"Home Made," to be shown this Saturday, is, according to Clayton Gulliver, noted Hollywood critic, the funniest Johnny Hines comedy of the year. It is taken from a story by C. B. Carrington. "Thirteenth Juror" is a Universal- Jewell attraction with Francis X. Bushman and Anna Q. Nilsson in the leading roles. It is one of the most stirring dramas of the law courts that have been presented for some time. The film will be presented Sunday. "Figures Don't Lie," the production selected for Monday and Tuesday, has Richard Arlen and Esther Ralston in the leading roles. It is a comedy-drama with thrill upon thrill and laugh after laugh. Wednesday's attraction, "Honey- moon Hate," is a Florence Vidor pro- duction. Florence is cast as the inde- pendent American wife of an Italian prince who believes in making his wife obey him. The wife's temper proves quite an obstacle but Tullio Carmanati succeeds in taming her. "The Garden of Allah," Rex In- gram's latest masterpiece, concludes the week's bookings. Alice Terry, whom Ingram cast in the lead in "The Four Horsemen," is said to present one of the best characterizations in her history. It is one of the most grip- ping drams of the present season. GOODMAN THEATRE NEWS An interesting revival took place at the Goodman Memorial theatre, Chi- cago, Monday evening, December 12, when Goldsmith's comedy, "She Stoops to Conquer," was presented by the players of the Repertory company un- der the direction of Thomas Wood Stevens, Parts in the large cast were well taken. Splendid fun was supplied by Whitford Kane who appeared as the uncontrolled youth, Tony Lumpkin. Mary Agnes Doyle, as his mother, Mrs. Hardcastle, and Russell Spindler, who portrayed the character of Mr. Hardcastle, were equally good. The two pairs of lovers struggled through their difficulties to final happiness and at times the old comedy seemed surpris- ingly modern, so good was the direc- tion and so well spoken were the lines. In addition to the regular program, Fri- day afternoon will be featured by a Christmas party. _ "His Dogs", the Tuesday feature, is a Pathe-DeMille production with Joseph Schildkraut in the leading role. The picture is based on what in the newspaper world would be known as a "Human Interest" plot. COMMUNITY HOUSE Georgia Hall Heads Cast in "Rain" at the Chateau Georgia Lee Hall, who, it will be re- membered, succeeded Jeanne Eagels as Sadie Thompson in the initial pre- sentation of "Rain", will take the same role next week at the Chateau Theater when the Minturn Players present the play as their current offering. Miss Hall has been engaged especially to take the part and John W. Waller, who has been playing the Rev. Da- vidson role on tour with Miss Hall, will also be in the cast. The play "Rain" was created by John Colton, author of "Shanghai Gesture", who made the dramatiza- tion from Somerset Maugham's tale of the enervating influences of the cli- mate of Pago-Pago, a small trading station in the south seas. It was first made known in Chicago with Jeanne Eagels in the leading role. A little later Miss FEagels was succeeded by Miss Hall.
