BE - December 24, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 7 Health Officers to Co-operate on Hospitalization | As a result of the recent lack of uni- form method of procedure in the trans- fer of contagious disease cases from the district west and north of Evanston to Evanston hospitals, errors and mis- understandings in the registration of such cases frequently occur, according to a letter which Dr. John W. H. Pol- lard, Commissioner of Health of Ev- anston has sent to north shore phy- sicians. Dr. Pollard further states, "The cases are often erroneously allocated and the local health officers involved are handicapped in their endeavors to properly trace contacts. "In order to correct this situation, the Department of Health of the City of Evanston will, from this date, en- force the Illinois State Department of Public Health's regulations relative to the transfer of cases of contagious dis- eases from one health jurisdiction to another. "Superintendents of both Evanston hospitals will be requested not to ad- mit contagious disease patients from foreign health jurisdictions, except upon permission from the Evanston Commissioner of Health." Dr. H. A. Orvis, health officer of Winnetka and Kenilworth, has taken up this matter with north shore physi- cians, and through a group organiza- tion known as the North Shore Health Officers' association, is getting full co- operation in the matter of carrying out the foregoing regulations. Dr. Orvis submitted a brief report to the Winnetka village council Tues- day evening, on the foregoing plans.
