January 14, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 17 Circle Notes The Lincoln circle will hold its next regular meeting at the home of Mrs. John R. Montgomery, 15 Green Bay road, Winnetka, on Monday, Janu- ary 23. Members and their friends will assemble at about 10:30 o'clock and will sew for charity. Luncheon will be served at 1 o'clock, followed by a short business meeting. Then the sewing will continue for an hour or two. All who can are asked to be present at this meeting. Skokie circle will meet next Monday, January 16, at 2:30, at the home of Mrs. Moritz J. Loeb, 1432 Asbury ave- nue. Mrs. Walter Bachrach and Mrs. 0. William Lowry will assist the host- ess. A cordial invitation to attend is extended to the members and neigh- bors. Next Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock the Ash Street circle will meet with Mrs. Carlton Prouty, 693 Willow road, assisted by Mrs. T. Dehmling. Instead of the usual sewing, the circle will have a party. Fach one is urged to come dressed in an old-fashioned cos- tume if possible. The hostesses urge all to come. The Cherry Street circle will gather at 10 o'clock in the morning next Tuesday for a sewing meeting at the home of Mrs. Dayton Ogden, 1337 Asbury avenue. Mrs. Barton H. Sack- ett will assist Mrs. Ogden and at noon the hostesses will serve a hot luncheon, during which Mrs. John Hanawalt, who is a member of the board of di. rectors of the Frances Willard hospi- tal, will talk. The circle is sewing this year for this hospital. The Fuller Lane circle met last Monday at the home of Mrs. George Karnes, 151 Fuller lane. The attend- ance was quite large. It was decided to sew for the Infant Welfare in the future. The next meeting of this circle will be held at the home of Mrs, Ralph D. Huszagh, 204 Fuller lane. The Walden Road circle will have an all-day meeting, commencing at 9:30 in the morning, January 23, at the home of Mrs. Ralph Buteau, 782 Cen- ter street. Members are asked to bring their own box luncheons, and coffee will be served by the hostess. The Ridge Avenue circle will hold a meeting on Monday, January 23, at 2 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Oliver D. Johantgen, 631 Garland avenue, with Mrs. Roy Weilbrenner assisting. The Foxdale Avenue circle will meet Monday, January 16, at the home of Mrs. T. Voorhees, 870 Foxdale avenue. EST. 1850 CHICAGO National College Gives Tea for Mid-Year Grads An invitation to tea on Thursday afternoon, January 12, was extended by the National Kindergarten and Ele- mentary college of Evanston to mem- bers of the mid-year graduating class- es of Chicago and North Shore high schools, in order that those who are interested may have an opportunity of visiting the college before the opening of the mid-year term on January 30. Members of the International club of the College entertained the visiting students with a short program of mu- sic and folk dances found in the holi- day celebrations of foreign countries, following which tea was served by members of the faculty in the alumnae room and an opportunity given the stu- dents to visit the college classrooms and the rooms of the children's school. Illinois ranks third among the states in the number of children attending public schools.
