R. is planning a large card party to be held at the Winnetka Woman's club Monday afternoon, March 26, at 2 o'clock, to raise funds for the general work of the chapter. The affair is in the hands of a large committee consisting of Mrs. Theron E. Childs, chairman; Mrs. Erwin R. Brigham, Mrs. Francis S. Graham, Mrs. John C. Hornung, Mrs. Morris K. Karkar, Mrs. James D. Lightbody, Mrs. Clarence T. MacNeille, Mrs. Rob- ert Walker, of Glencoe ; Mrs. Charles E. Galloway, Mrs. Samuel O. Rice, Mrs. Ralph K. Rockwood, Mrs. Francis J. Winscott, and Miss Kathryn Adams, of Winnetka, with Mrs. Eva Crozier of Highland Park. Further particulars may be obtained from the chairman, Mrs. Childs, whose telephone number is Glencoe 377, it is explained. Many tables have now been and many prizes donated. The work of the Glencoe chapter, which will be aided by this party, is the helping of immigrants to gain American ideals and intelligent citizen- ship. As the present population of the United States is more than fifty percent foreign-born and their chil- dren, this work of the D. A. R. is es- pecially timely and vital. Funds are loaned also to American boys and girls of talent, and patriotic education is fostered among them. The other interests of the chapter are: the study of conservation of his- toric places, the marking of trail trees, better films, conservation of our forest preserves, reciprocity with foreign na- tions, and the study of our national constitution and laws. sold Perry Dunlap Smith to Address Parents Monday The Hubbard Woods school cordial- ly invites all the parents in Winnetka, to hear Perry Dunlap Smith of the North Shore Country Day school, speak on "The Locarno World Con- ference of the New Education Fellow- ship of Europe," at 8:15 o'clock Mon- day evening, January 30. Erskine Wilder will sing a group of songs upon this occasion. The Hubbard Woods parents will visit their children's school-rooms from 7:40-8:15 o'clock, preceeding the meeting. Elmer F. Wiebotdt, 659 Valley road, Glencoe, campaign chairman, gave the speech at the laying of the corner stone of the $750,000 YMCA building at 3341 North Marshfield avenue Sat- urday, January 21, at 3 o'clock.
