28 WINNETKA TALK March 3, 1928 Peace vs. War, Subject for the Uptown Forum The question of preparing for peace vs. preparing for war will be debated at the Uptown Forum, Chicago, Sun- day evening, March 4. Frederick J. Libby or washington, secretary of the National Council for Prevention of War, widely known propagandist and lobbyist for peace measures and programs, will take the affirmative of the question "Resolved: That the United States Needs a Peace Pro- gram More Than a Defense Pro- gram." Major Thornton A Mills of Chicago, a leader in patriotic and mili- tary organizations, will speak in the negative. The discussion will em- phasize the seeming conflict between Secretary of State Kellogg's pro- posals of treaties outlawing war, and the big navy program now being dis- cussed in Congress. The 'Uptown Forum meets in the auditorium of the People's church, 941 Lawrence avenue, just east of Sheridan road, Chicago, at 8 p. m. The bride was Miss Dorothy Culver, daughter of Mrs. Morton Taylor Culver of Glencoe. She is a graduate of New Trier High school. Upon returning from their wedding trip of a fortnight, Mr. and Mrs. Schreffier will make their home with Mrs. Culver. Dr. Ernest F. Tittle, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Evanston, and Mrs. Tittle, invited all the students of Northwestern univer- sity to an open house at their home in Evanston Friday of last week. Play Will Feature i North Shore Temple Dedication Program The formal dedication of the new North Shore Congregation Israel at Vernon and Lincoln avenues, Glencoe, which is pictured above, will be held Sunday evening, March 4, at 6:30 o'clock. The Sisterhood will be in charge of the arrangements for the evening, a supper will be given fol- lowed by a play, "The Youngest," by Philip Barry, and presented by the Temple Players, a group of young peo- ple who have all had experience in - high school and college dramatics. There will be no admission charge since this is the means of introducing to the community the work of the or- ganization. Since the group will pre- sent plays throughout the year it hopes the community will be pleased with its work and will give their support. The cast of the play is as follows: Richard Winslow ..
