RANDOLPH STREET LINDEN MANOR KEEPS RESIDENTIAL THEME New Hubbard Woods Store- Apartment Structure Conforms to Home Area Appearance' Keeping the exclusive residential sections of the north shore distinctly residential in character, even in the business section, is the problem north shore builders are now solving. There is now nearing completion in the Hubbard Woods section of Win- netka a new combination apartment and business building in the authentic English architectural motive. Its cost will run well over a quarter of a mil- lion dollars, and it presents a new ad- vantage in design and layout which gives it unusual attraction as an apart- ment residence. All apartments have their entrance in a side street court. This and the beautiful exterior of the building entirely dissociate it from the stores which occupy frontage on the other street. The location is in the heart of the Hubbard Woods section of Winnetka, at the northwest corner of Merrill street and Linden avenue, and sepa- rated from stations of the Chicago and North Western and Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee railroads by a block of lawn and park. The construction is of pressed Eng- lish brick, and the upper stories will be done in attractive contrast of half timber and stucco, topped by Eng- lish sloping slate roofs. The building is of three stories and will contain eight large stores and twenty-four apartments, eight five room, twelve four room, and four three room. The interior appointments will be of unusual quality, floors of oak and trim of birch. All apartments will have colored tile bathrooms with show- ers and the latest type of porcelain ac- cessories. All apartments will have electric refrigerating systems and roll- a-way beds. The four and five room apartments will have {full kitchens; the threes will have kitchenettes. This building will be a handsome ad- dition to the high character of devel- opment which prevails in this section of the north shore. The plans were drawn by Huszagh and Hill, architects. W. G. McNulty and Brother are the general contractors. Work is so far advanced that applications are now be- ing taken by McGuire and Orr, agents. Roy W. Peet Leases Sheridan Road Residence Roy W.
