March 10, 1928 WINNETKA "TALK Shawnee Club Scene of Evening Wedding on Friday, March 16 The marriage of Eleanor Anabel Buckman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Duane Buckman of 925 Elmwood avenue, to John Alfred Thompson, also of Wilmette, will take place Friday, March 16, at 8:30 o'clock in the eve- ning at the Shawnee Country club. The service will be read by the Rev. Francis Carr Stifler. The bridal party will include Miss Virginia Thompson, who will act as maid of honor, Mrs. Robert Louis Osgood of Kenilworth (Eleanor Buck), Mrs. Granville Revere Lewis, III, of Evanston, (Natalie Yonkers), Miss Winifred Metzel of Kenilworth and Miss Mary Louise Fenton of Winnet- ka, who will act as bridesmaids. Gerald Buckman Horton, a cousin of the bride-elect, will serve the bride- groom as best man. The ushers will be George Delana of Chicago, Robert Louis Osgood of Kenilworth, Granville Revere Lewis, III, of Evanston, and Ballard Van Horn Higbee of Wilmette. A number of showers have been in- cluded in the affairs given for Miss Buckman prior to her marriage. Miss Winifred Metzel gave a canned goods shower on Wednesday, February 29, at her home, and on Friday, March 2 Mrs. R. A. Buckman entertained the bridal party and a few other friends at a hosiery shower at the Georgian hotel. Mrs. G. R. Lewis, III, was hostess at a miscellaneous shower Tuesday, March 6, at her home in Evanston, and on Wednesday, March 7, Miss Kath- erine Harrison of Bannockburn gave a book shower for Miss Buckman, Mrs. John Highee entertained on Thursday at her home and tomorrow Miss Thompson is giving a miscellaneous shower. Tuesday, March 13, Mus. Raymond Todd will entertain at a Worth While? Dr. Ernest Fremont Tittle, pastor of the First Methodist church, Evanston, will lecture before the Contemporary Thought class at Northwestern next Wednesday afternoon at 2 in Com- merce hall, speaking on the question, "What Is Worth While in Life?" He will talk of values and the search to find what are the eternal values-- anything of worth while the universe will permanently care for and cause to survive.
