The same evenness of temperature which the heating control affords also causes more efficient combustion of fuel. Both of these features, however, probably appear less important at this time of the year than the fact that one may get up in a home com- fortably heated at any hour desired. With a coal-burning heater, fewer trips to the basement to "fire up" are necessary; as a rule, a fresh supply of coal for the fire morning and night is all that is necessary. With the regu- lator fires burn evenly and slowly all day and night and never burn out, while the disagreeable job of rekind- ling a new fire in an old house is abolished. The constant and even temperature maintained with the regulator-equipped system is also a large factor in fuel economy, since unnecessarily low and high spots in the temperature record are eliminated. Once a fire has burned down low, a considerable amount of fuel is required to bring it up to a proper and efficient burning point. Just enough fuel is consumed to keep the house at a comfortable tem- perature and the extremes which may result in overheated pipes and frozen plumbing are eliminated. Actual tests show that the heat regulator saves about one-fifth of the fuel normally used. The device may be applied to steam. hot water, vapor, vapor-vacuum and warm air plants of the coal, oil or gas burning varieties. Reuben S. LaSalle St. Main 0250 Plenty of Outlets for Wiring Helpful and Not Expensive The cost of adequately wiring a home is so small in comparison with the total cost of the house and in pro- portion to the convenience in service obtained thromghout the life of the house that the home builder should not feel in any way extravagant in specifying a sufficient number of out- lets and switches. The terms outlet and receptacle are by many used to represent the same thing, and are terms which are often misunderstood. The outlet is the place where an electrical appliance, lighting fixture or switch is connected to the wiring located in the walls, ceiling or floors of the house. When such an outlet furnishes cur- rent for such an appliance as an elec- tric fan, table lamp, electric iron or other electrical appliance it is usually finished off with a receptacle. This is the little brass gadget, either flush with "the surface or slightly raised above it, with. one or more slots for one, two or three connections, into which slots are inserted the prongs of the mating terminal on the end of the wire running to each ap- pliance. In the moderatly-sized home the old-fashioned, highly ornamented chandeliers and other ceiling fixtures are very largely giving way to wall fixtures designed along the lines of simple dignity. The proper lighting of the room de- pends as much upon the character and color of wall and ceiling surfaces as it does upon the kind of fixtures and the size and kind of electric lamp. In- direct lighting, which means reflected light, is very largely relied upon now for the most satisfactory type of il- lumination. Recon: Realty Deals Charles W. Wrigley, president of the Charles W.
