WINNETKA 735 Elm St. Phones 843-44 HUBBARD WOODS SCHOOL HAS TRAVEL EXPOSITION Stage Mammoth Affair to Pro- cure Funds for New Books for School Library (Contributed) The annual bazaar at the Hubbard Woods school, which will be held next Wednesday, is to take the form of a Travel Exposition this year. The pro- ceeds are to be used for new books for the school library. At 2 o'clock the Travel Exposition opens with a parade of the people of other lands dressed in their native cos- tumes. All of the children, teachers and mothers who have foreign cos- tumes are invited to take part in this parade which will be held in the as- sembly. Following the parade there will be folk dances of different coun- tries. One first grade group is to rep- resent American farmers, a fourth grade group will dance a Japanese dance. There will be a Dutch dance by third grade children and a Colonial Minuet by fifth and sixth grade chil- dren. Old English country dances will be given by fifth and sixth grade chil- dren. Present Greek Play In the assembly at 3:30 a Greek play will be given by Miss Leap's room. Here you will see portrayed a story of Greek family life in the age of Peri- cles. In Miss Cox's fifth grade room at 2:30 you will find Roman boys en- joying their games, such as wrestling, boxing, high-jumping, broad jumping, tug-o'-war, throwing of quoits and spear throwing. Across the hall in Miss McKay's room at 3:00 you will find a young squire of the thirteenth century being knighted in the midst of medieval splendors. Mrs. Bernhard's sixth grade room will have an aviation show and models of aeroplanes can be seen. There will also be an aviation movie. The first grades are combining and having a Doll Show in Miss Frees room. Here dolls from all over the world will be exhibited. There will be paper bag dolls on sale and live dolls in attendance. If you go into Miss Fake's room vou will find yourself in France for here there will be songs and dances and even a little play all in French. After the performance there will be a fish- pond in this room and the French peasants will help you fish for all sorts of surprises. Have Japanese Garden Miss Swartz's second grade room has turned into a Japanese tea garden. Little girls dressed in gay kimonos will serve tea amid cherry blossoms, kites, lanterns and the odor of sweet in- cense. Little Japanese lollypop dolls may be purchased here and all sorts of party favors. Mrs. Barnett's first grade room ex- hibits farm life and here seeds, plants, garden tools and sprinkling cans will be sold and orders taken for bird houses, trellises, garden furniture and many other useful things. The home of the Hopi Indians will be found in Mrs. Hughes' second grade room where a real Indian will sell bas- kets, blankets, jewelry and pottery. A per cent of the profit from these sales goes into the library fund. One will also be able to buy marble-bags and baskets made by the children. Everybody is urged to come to Miss Rose Damberg's Swiss Chocolate shop to have a cup of hot chocolate and buy a Swiss toy and some candy. Hold Dutch Market In Miss Lila Graham's room there will be a Dutch market. Dutch chil- dren will sell fresh vegetables, tulips, toys and cookies, The fourth grades of Miss Ruth Damberg, Miss Johnson and Miss Mona Graham will have the "Streets of Cairo" in Miss Mona Graham's room. Here will be shops of many kinds where beads, tiles, lampshades, Dundee pottery and other articles will be for sale. Best of all there will be a real donkey and a donkey boy to give you rides. There will be a continuous "Travel Movie" in the library and a stereopti- con "Trip Around the World" in Miss Van Cleve"s room. Books of the best stories of strange lands will be ex- hibited in the office and orders taken on these. The French fairy tale of "The Three Wishes" will be presented four times by marionettes in the kindergarten. The hall is to represent America and homemade American food, cake, candy and ice cream will be sold by the parents. Mrs. Henry J. Cary-Curr of 1051 Spruce street, was called to Owens- boro, Ky., last week. Mr. and Mrs. Cary-Curr have been living at the Mozart apartments in Chicago this past winter.
