April 7, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Light Vote Cast in Village Election With only one ticket in the field, less than five hundred votes were polled at the annual village election Tuesday. Carl J. Easterburg and R. H. Schell, Two of the three candidates for trustees, were re-elected, the third, William B. Moulton, being a new member in place of D. F. McPherson, who was not a candidate for re-election. Mrs. Stella Winslow, who was re-elected village clerk, has served four full terms in this office in addition to filling out the un- expired term of William A. Peterson re- ceived a telegram Thursday informing him that Edward Paul Wetzel, who formerly operated a taxi in Winnetka had been arrested at Lansing, Mich, where he is being held for violation of the Dyer act, transporting a stolen car from one state to another. Chief Peterson had before him a volume of correspondence and tele- grams from officers in various parts of the United States and Canada relative to Wetzel, whom he has been endeav- oring to locate since the spring of 1924, when Wetzel, it is charged, went south with a mortgaged car he had purchased from the Skokie Motor Co., and leaving behind, also, 19 bogus checks for $969.50. Chief Peterson made no effort to conceal his pleasure at the news that Wetzel had finally been apprehended. He was not indicted here on the charges against him four years ago and the Chief feels it is improbable that it will be possible for him to follow up the prosecutions which he could have done in the past.
