Five of the 20 permits were for new residences costing $125,500, an exceed- ingly high average per building. One of the permits was for the David Nelson business and apartment building, costing $90,000 and now being erected at 337-343 Park avenue. Seven permits were for remodeling work, one job alone, that of the F. E. Compton residence at 775 Grove street, costing $35,000. The total work au- thorized under the classification of repairs and alterations was $43,500. There were 7 permits for private garages, costing $3,175. One of the other permits was for a summer house, costing $1,000, which Oscar Foreman is erecting at 51 Beach road and the other was for a garden house, of logs, which Paul L. Battey is building at 453 Skokie road. Those to whom permits were issued for residences and the cost of the same, follow: Murray & Sinclair, brick and frame, 439 Grove street, $25,000. J. C. Traweek, and W. H. Overton, frame and stucco, 470 Jackson avenue, $17.500. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Pratt, frame and brick veneer, 232 Franklin road, $35,000. Charles H. Ayers Is Buyer of Winnetka Home; Many Other Sales The Wilmette Realty Co. reports the following recent sales: The new English brick and stone residence, built by R. E. Crosby at 1453 Scott avenue, Winnetka, to W. I.. Ayers of Chicago. The Pelott residence, 1132 Ashland avenue, Wilmette, to R. R. Lippincott of Evanston. The new English, brick residence, built by A. C. Busscher at 1487 Edge- wood place, Winnetka, to B. R. Tabor of Chicago. Frank Reid represented the seller. The new English cottage type res- idence at 550 Drexel avenue, Glencoe, built by Charles H. Dunlap, to H. H. Von Glahn, of Chicago. The new brick residence on Brier place, West Kenilworth, built by James Crabb, to L. H. Vanhallenger of Chicago. The west 50 feet of the Thomas M. Knox property on Forest avenue, just west of Sheridan Road, to Edward G. A. Walter of Marshall Field & Co. Edward J. Hamberg Buys 100 ft. Lot on Chestnut Edward J. Hamberg of Chicago has purchased a lot, 100x175 feet, on Chestnut avenue from E. Moerel Weil. Mr. Hamberg is to build a brick resi- dence on the property. Kroll and Smith of Fourth street, Wilmette, were the brokers. The same brokers report the sale of the American colonial residence of E. O. Fuchs at 607 Lake avenue to Claude Canning. The consideration was undisclosed.
