The group, which at present contains about eighteen members, met to sew. Plans for a card party to be held in May were discussed, and it was decided to hold the party at the home of Mrs. Otto Ruess, 568 Hill terrace. Mrs. John Leyden of Madison, Wis., returned last Saturday afternoon after spending a week with Mrs. John Hall, 555 Ridge avenue, Kenilworth, who is living with her son-in-law and daugh- ter, Mr. and Mrs. Willard N. Scoeneck. {Wheaton Pastor Preaches at Scandinavian Church The Rev. R. A. Thompson, pastor of the First Scand. Evangelical church of Winnetka, will preach in the Gospel Tabernacle of Wheaton tomorrow. The pastor of this newly organized church in Wheaton, the Rev. Fred Beck, will occupy Mr. Thompson's pulpit, speak- ing to the young people's Bible classes at the Sunday school hour, at the morning worship period, and at the young people's meeting and evening service. Goiiduiet 20th Anniversary Sale The twentieth anniversary of the opening of a rug sales and cleaning establishment for the north shore is being celebrated by Mestjian Bros. this week in a special sale of all types of Oriental, Chinese, and domestic rugs at 511 Main street, Wilmette. Singularly enough, the anniversary marks also the expansion of the sales- room to exactly double the former capacity and the increase of the facili- ties for the handling of the constantly increasing volume of trade. It also marks the addition of even a still larger stock of rugs of all types than has been carried in the past. M. K. and A. K. Mestjian first es- tablished a business in Evanston twen- ty years ago. Since that time they have steadily built up their trade until they now not only have one of the finest rug establishments on the north shore but also operate one of the larg- est rug cleaning plants in this vicinity. High School Contributes to Shakespeare Memorial More than $200 has been collected by the various English teachers as New Trier High school's contribution to help rebuild and endow the Shake- speare Memorial theater at Stratford- on-Avon. A portion of the fund will also be used to help endow the library there and to establish a permanent company of Shakespearian actors at Stratford. This company will come to Chicago in the near future, it is said. Complete Fuel Service Judge Allegretti to Be Speaker at Father-Son Dinner The annual father and son banquet at New Trier High school will be held next Thursday evening in the mess hall of school at 6:30 o'clock, it was announced this week. The principal speaker of the eve- ning will be Judge Allegretti of the Juvenile court of the City of Chicago. Judge Allegretti will relate some of his experiences in connection with juvenile delinquents. An elaborate program has been ar- ranged for the banquet which it is anticipated will be attended by more than 500 boys and fathers. Every New Trier boy will be present and will bring his dad or a substitute in case his own father is unable to attend. In addition to the musical program, which will consist of numbers by the Boys' Glee club, violin solos by Ed- ward Fowler and piano solos by Nor- man Hess, the principal toasts of the evening will be given by Elmer Rich, "What I Think of My Father," and a response by his father, Elmer A. Rich of Wilmette. A dancing act will also be featured. Mr. and Mrs Robert O. Butz of 622 Oak street, Winnetka, are spending this month touring through California. They have just spent a few days in Pasadena and are expected to return some time during the first week in May.
