George Svenson, well known Chicago pastor for many years. Proceeds from the program, which will also include several musical num- bers by Swedish composers, will go in- to the fund for the Restenas Children's home in Sweden. RETURN TO WASHINGTON Congressman and Mrs. Henry Riggs Rathbone, who returned to Washing- ton, D. C,, last Friday after passing the week at their home in Kenilworth, are at the Wardman Park hotel for the spring season. Mrs. Rathbone is rep- resenting Illinois at the League of American Pen Women now in con- ference at the capital. She spoke at the breakfast given for distinguished authors last Saturday at the Willard. Mr. and Mrs. Warren C. Agry, 711 Locust road, have as their guest, Mr. Agry's mother, who is here from New- ton, Mass., for a month. Luncheon Opens Season of Kenilworth Garden Club The Kenilworth Garden club met on Friday of last week for the opening of the present season. This club opens in April to continue until October, holding regular meetings every other Friday. This first meeting of the sea- son was a luncheon at the home of Mrs. E. D. Snydacker and was a special welcome home to the president, Mrs. S. D. Flood. After the luncheon, Mrs, Flood told of her trip and of gardens she saw abroad. Mrs. Sny- dacker, who has just returned from Boston and other points in the East, gave a most interesting account of her experiences. Mrs, Gilbert Kelly will represent Mrs. Flood at the Garden Club of America meetings in Cincinnati May 1- 4, and Mrs. Sidney Bell will be her alternate. Other members attending the session will be Mrs. Hugh Fores- man, Mrs. Grant Ridgway, and Mrs. Bentley McCloud. Miss Mary Maud Bermingham of 718 Laurel avenue, Wilmette and Miss Helen Tuells of Winnetka, are leaving today to spend the week-end at Rock- ford college. Mrs. John Lind Gives Talk at City Luncheon Mrs. John Lind of Richmond road, Kenilworth, a vice-president of the Chicago Plant, Flower, and Fruit guild, was the guest of a large "conser- vation luncheon" at the Chicago Wo- man's club Saturday, April 14, and was one of the opening speakers. The luncheon was given to draw the allied conservation interests of the State federation and district federations clos- er to the other organizations repre- senting the conservation idea and ideal, notably the Chicago Plant, Flower, and Fruit guild, the Wild Flower Preser- vation society, and friends of the American Landscape, and as a fitting prelude to Conservation week which began this last Monday. Mrs. Lind spoke by request on the advisability of a sub-committee being formed in the State federation under the conserva- tion committee to promote the Garden Idea in the federation and recommend- ed this course of procedure to make it a growing thing.
