12 WINNETKA TALK May 5, 1928 © 555 Chestnut Street UALITY Low in PRICE There's a big difference in tires, although they all look pretty much alike. Some are made with skimpy, short staple cotton. Some have an overdose of "filler" in the rubber of the tread. Some are long on looks and short on quality. But you won't need a microscope to be sure that the Goodyear Tire you get from us is a real buy. Goodyear mileage tells the story of "The World's Greatest Tire? Goodyears are performing so satisfac- torily for our customers that they invari- ably come back--mnot with a kick but with a boost, and for another Goodyear when they need tire equipment. We have your size--in fresh, new stocks --at low prices. HANSON MOTOR CO. Graham-Paige Sales and Service Phone Winnetka 330 New Trier Trackmen to Enter Marquette Relays New Trier will be represented in at least two events in the Marquette Relays, to be held at Milwaukee this Saturday. Coach Nay has great hopes of bringing home as many trophies. He will send a mile relay team, which hopes to repeat last years victory and a four mile team. Also Dave Wanger may represent New Trier in the broad jump as he has been making some very good jumps lately. Burgess, Windes, Iliff, Ferrman, Hilton and Morris are the runners who have worn Gray and. Green in the mile this year. Four of them, probably the first four, will each carry New Trier's baton for a mile in the four mile relay. They are as fine a bunch of milers as one would hope to find and they make Coach Nay's chances of bringing home at least one trophy very promising. Iliff is the on- ly one who has run at Marquette be- fore but Hilton and Windes are vet- erans on the team. Cassell, Hoffman, Guy and Wanger have all had experience in getting third place for New Trier in the mile relay either at the Illinois Relay Car- nival or at the Northwestern Inter- scholastic. They are all excellent quarter-milers and should do better than third place this time. ASK PAVING BIDS Bids are to be taken at the meets ing of the Board of Local Improve- ments Tuesday, May 15, for the pav- ing of Locust road from Pine street to Westmoor road; for installing a water main in Ridge road between Winnetka avenue and Meadow road and also for a water main and sanitary sewer in Center street to serve the Country Day school subdivision. New Trier Gym to Be Ready for Graduation Day By Walter Hartwig Everything indicates that New Trier's new gymnasium will be ready for occupancy by the senior class of 1928 for the approaching commence- ment exercises. The gym proper will be transformed into a huge hall suit- able for the graduation rites which are scheduled for June 15, but the building itself will not be fully completed until next September, when it will be in- augurated by the incoming freshmen class. The new gymnasium is being con- structed at an estimated cost of about three-quarters of a million dollars, and contains advanced features not found in most high school gymnasiums. A cleverly planned detail in the arrange- ment of the new gym is to be found in the use of the ground level floor as a field house. Here will be found the indoor track, cindered, and completely equipped with hurdles. In this well planned field house will also be found locker and shower rooms for the use of the teams. An exceptionally large and well constructed basketball floor is another important and popular fea- ture of the latest New Trier building. Much credit for the planning and arrangement of the new building, must be given to the director of New Trier athletics, W. F. (Duke) Childs, who has long been prominently associated with New Trier's football and basket- ball teams. The Home and Garden club of Kenilworth met on Monday of this week at the home of Mrs. A. W. Wakeley on Leicester road. A repre- sentative from the Waggstaff land- scape gardening company spoke on: some of the "don'ts" in landscaping and gardening.
