May 5, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 27- Circle Happenings The Pine Street circle will hold its closing meeting Friday, May 11, at 2 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Sam Fleager, 952 Pine street. The occa- sion will be a May party with Mrs. Guy Watson, Miss Stoddard, and Mrs. Leslie Stoddard assisting. Mrs. Charles Sommer will sing a, few selections and Mrs. Joseph Graff will give a group of readings. : The New Trier circle will hold the last meeting of its season Tuesday afternoon, May 8, at the home of Mrs, Joseph R. Gibson, 553 Elder lane. Mrs. E. H. -Scheerer will be the assisting hostess. Mrs. A. Lee Adams will entertain the Oak Street circle Tuesday afternoon, May 8, at her home, 926 Cherry street. Miss Caroline Eckstorm will tell of her interesting winter trip in the West. A musical program also has been arranged in which Miss Sara Jane Haven will play several piano selec- tions and little Sara Jane Adams the violin. All members and friends are cordially invited. Mrs. James McFad- zean is the assisting hostess. The last meeting of the year of the Indian Hill circle will be held Wednes- day, May 9, at the home of Mrs. E. A. Anderson, 331 Walnut road. Mrs. James Lang will be the assistant hostess. The work for the year has been completed and the circle will be entertained by Mrs. Bottorss, vocalist. The last meeting of the season of the Winnetka Heights circle will be held at the home of Mrs. Eugene A. Rumm- ler, 1015 Starr avenue at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, May 8. Mrs. Joseph Markley will be the assistant hostess. The Rosewood Avenue circle will meet at the home of Mrs. J. W. Wood, 1184 Tower road, Tuesday, May 8, at 2 o'clock. All members are urged to be present as an election of new officers will be held. The West Elm Street circle will meet at the home of Mrs. A. C. F. Gedge, 1106 Elm street, on Wednesday, May 9. All members are cordially invited to attend and are asked to each bring with her an antique. A story of each antique will form the entertainment for the afternoon. During the business meeting the nominating committee will present the names for the officers for next year to be voted upon. The Scott Avenue circle will meet on Tuesday, May 8, at 2:30 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. A. H. Barber, 1214 Scott avenue. The assisting hostesses will Be Miss Greenlee and Mrs. Harold nell. The East Elm Street circle will meet next Wednesday, May 9, at 2 o'clock. at the home of Mrs. William H. Nicholls, 660 Pine street. The assist- ing hostesses will be Mrs. F. W, Fair- man, Mrs. Paul Williams, Mrs. Lang- don Hoyt, Mrs. Arthur S. Littlefield, Mrs, Charles M. Thomson. There will be a program consisting of two groups of songs by Mrs. F. S. Bosworth and a reading arranged by Mrs, E. V. L. The club was decorated with palms and spring flowers and the tables were covered with soft green. This atmosphere combined with the festive air brought by the many groups that had been attending the dinner parties previous to the lecture made it a happy occasion. Mr. Adams is an unusually lucid and entertaining speaker. He remarked after the lecture to one of the women who had been in charge of it that he seldom encountered so attentive and appreciative an audience.
