May 19, 1928 WINNETKA TALK E. A. Jones Moves Into New Electric and Filling Station A change has been made both in the name and location of the Jones Electric Service, of which E. A. Jones, familiarly known as "Eddie," is pro- prietor. He has moved from the Carl- ton Building to 1000 Linden avenue, Hubbard Woods; is now operating un- der the firm name of Jones Service Station, and to his line of batteries and auto electrical work has added gas and oils. Mr. Jones' new location is at the southwest corner of Scott and Linden avenue, in the new bungalow type building just completed there by the Pennsylvania Oil company, as an oil filling and auto service station. The two greasing pits are inside the building, where, in cold, or stormy weather, the car owner may sit in com- fort while his car is being serviced. The building plans also provide for auto laundry space, but for the pres- ent this department is being used by Mr. Jones for the battery and elec- trical department. The building, itself, from an archi- tectural point of view, is a pleasing improvement to this section of the rapidly growing business district of Hubbard Woods. A considerable ground area, surrounding it, is to be beautifully landscaped and shrubbed, in keeping with similar development of adjacent resident property directly to the west. Alired Newton Burnham, his wife, Anita Willetts Burnham, and their children recently left Winnetka for a two year trip around the world, pass- ing a great deal of their time in China. During their absence, their log cabin at 1407 Tower road is being rented by Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Larrabee from Massachusetts. Congregational Church to Hold Parish Picnic June 4 The Parish picnic of the Winnetka Congregational church will be given Monday evening, June 4, on the lawn and beach at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ferry, 391 Sheridan road. All members of the Parish are asked to reserve this date for this occasion. It will be a happy opportunity for all to meet Mr. Paul Reynolds, who arrives in Winnetka, Friday, June 1, to be the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ferry for one week. Word has been received that Mrs. Reynolds, Happy and Babs, will be unable to be here, owing to the con- valescence of one of the children after a slight illness. This is a great disappointment to the members of the Parish but it is a de- light to have Mr. Reynolds here for the week. He will carry messages of love and greeting to his family. Maria Beauty Culture Installs New Equipment Extensive improvements are being made at the Maria Beauty Culture, 833 Elm street, in the form of an installa- tion of reducing and health baths, which department, it is announced, will be opened June 1, under an experi- enced and licensed masseuse. . Two large steam cabinets are being 'in- stalled, in one of which will be a re- ducing bicycle. A large stall for the shower baths, massage tables and rest rooms will comprise other features of this most up-to-date equipment, the work on which is being done by L. H. Peterson, as contractor. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Doyle, 680 Locust road, left Winnetka yesterday in a private car to attend the Derby at Louisville. They will be gone over the week-end.
