May 26, 1928 WINNETK COMMITTEE ADVISES ON JUDICIAL BALLOT Candidates Endorsed by Bar Association Recommended by Wilmette Advisory Body Recommendations to Wilmette vot- ers relative to certain candidates to be balloted upon in the Cook county Judicial election Monday, June 4, were announced this week by the Wilmette Voters' Advisory committee, which represents churches and civic organiza- tions in the village. All the candidates recommended by the committee have the endorsement of the Chicago Bar association and are listed on the Chicago Bar association --Non-Partisan ticket. Committee's Report The committee's report reads as fol- lows : "At the judicial election Monday, June 4, seven Superior court judges are to be elected. There are two tickets in the field: one by agreement between the Crowe Republicans and Brennan Democrats; and the other, the Chicago Bar association non-partisan ticket. "The Wilmette Voters' Advisory committee recommends the excellent candidates of proven fidelity endorsed by the members of the Chicago bar, as follows: "Chicago Partisan. "For Judges of the Superior court (full term)--Howard W. Hayes, Dan- iel P. Trude, Charles Center Case. "For Judge of the Superior court (to fill vacancy)--James J. Barbour. Reserve Further Report "The committee at this time makes no report on any candidates on the Bar association--Non- Wreckers Arrive Next Tuesday to Raze Shawnee Club Tuesday, May 29, wrecking crews will lay sledge and axe to the Shawnee Country club structure on Michigan avenue at Lake avenue, Wilmette, to make way for the magnificent new $400,000 club building which is to rise on the site of the old Ouilmette Coun- try club. A bridge luncheon Monday, May 28, will be the closing activity in the present club house, signalizing the cli- max of the first winter season since the merging of the Quilmette club with the Evanston Century club last autumn under the new designation of Shawnee club. The order for the razing of the present building came at the annual meeting of the Shawnee club late last week. At that time officers were elected as follows: Albert N. Page, presdent; Dr. C. H. Searles, vice- president; H. L. Fogg, secretary; J. M. Budinger, treasurer. Elmer S. Bers- bach, Daniel H. Burnham, and James B. French were elected to the board of governors for a term of three years beginning July 1, next. The Shawnee club membership now extends throughout the north shore from Evanston to Highland Park, in- ¢lusive.
