MUSICAL SOCIETY TO GIVE FINE CONCERT Program at Wilmette Woman's Club Monday Evening Enlists Artists of Organization Music lovers of Wilmette and other north shore villages are awaiting the arrival of Monday evening, June 4, when at the Wilmette Woman's club the North Shore Musical society gives its second annual concert. The society sponsors good music, not for profit, but as free and delightful as our north shore air. A fine evening is assured all who attend and the society urges "you and your friends to come. Just what the North Shore Musical society means in north shore music is not hard to understand when it is considered that all the artists who are to entertain are members of the organization. The object, perhaps the prime object, of the society is better music, which accounts for the fact that since the organization was formed eight years ago, it has grown rapidly and developed talent of un- mistakeable quality. Artists Who Appear The society may pridefully point to those artists who are to appear next Monday as evidence of this develop- ment. Among these are Winifred Townsend Cree who is to be violin soloist ; Frances Copthorne and Olive Ahara, sopranos; Dorothy Cordts, contralto; Electa Austin and Jean MacShane, pianists; Bertha Dubbs, violinist; Estelle Swigart, cellist. Those who are soloists in addition to Winifred Townsend Cree are Frances Copthorne, Olive Ahara, Dorothy Cordts and Electa Austin. A trio is composed of Jean MacShane, Bertha Dubbs and Estelle Swigart. Tf the success of the initial concert last year may be taken as a criterion, the event on Monday evening will attract a large attendance. North shore residents have learned to take an interest in the "home breds," having discovered that talent of a high degree has been developed. The North Shore Musical society was organized in 1920 by Mrs. Doro- thy Wing Macauley and has been active ever since. Monthly meetings are held by the society.
