June 2, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 28 BOAT RACES TO BEGIN Yacht Club Opens Its Season at Wil- mette Harbor Today Prettiest Girl Six star class sloops in their 1928 complexions were slated to open the season of the North Shore Yacht club Memorial Day in the first of a series of races. This club's fleet of star class craft compose the largest fleet of stars on the Great Lakes and are out for greater honors this year than last when they took seventh in the Inter- national regatta at Narragansett. Their Saturday races will start this week to be held each successive Satur- day. Trophies will be contested throughout the season and a sweep- stakes award will be made at the close. Priming 'will be for the international races to be held this year at Los An- geles. The yacht club this year has its membership quota of 100 filled, and between 30 and 40 craft of various kinds will sail under the club's name during the summer. Work has started on developing the Wilmette harbor which is the intake of the North Shore channel The club's boat dock is there. The Sanitary dis- trict is doing the work which includes putting in permanent moorings, con- crete steps, retaining walls and other repair operations.
