This announcement was confirmed Friday evening after the performance of Booth Tarkington's classic comedy drama, "Clarence," in which, by the way, Joe Driscoll scored the biggest hit of his north shore career as the Tarkington juvenile. A series of engagements contracted before coming to the Alcyon necessi- tates the departure of the Graeme Players at the end of this month. How- ever, the Alcyon management assures us that the Players will be back at the Highland Park theater about the middle of August with many more good plays added to a repertoire already replete with hits. Next Friday, June 22, the Graeme Plavers will present at the Alcyon William Collier's famous three-act comedy drama, "Nothing But the Truth." The feature picture for the evening will be "Vamping Venus," starring Charles Murray. On Friday, June 29, the Graeme Plavers will present their concluding performance in the form of another comedy, "A Full House." In addition to the performance of the Graeme "Players next week, the Alcvon has on its bill several pictures which have recently been showing be- fore loon theater audiences. Bebe Daniels will hold forth tonight in "The Fifty-Fifty Girl." She will be assisted by the cocky James Hall, who exchanges places with Bebe and plays the part of a demure girl while Miss Daniels does the bossing--that is, until she concedes that a man really is some good after all. Jean Hersholt and Alice Joyce will be seen in "13 Washington Square" at the Alcyon tomorrow. This is said to be one of the most entertaining mystery-comedies ever filmed. "Three Sinners" with Pola Negri in the leading role will be the Alcyon attraction next Monday and Tuesday. This picture was Photoplay's choice for one of the six best during the month of June. It is the story of the disappointed wife determined to re- capture her own husband. "The Crowd," starring Eleanor Boardman and James Murray, is an- other picture of the six-best type, and it will follow "Three Sinners" at the Alcyon for two days--next Wednesday and Thursday. The plot concerns a white-collar man and his wife and their struggles in a big city. In "Vamping Venus," the picture to be shown at the Alcyon next Friday in connection with the Graeme Play- ers production, Thelma Todd furnishes the beauty and Charlie Murray sup- plies the fun. This picture is a comedy nightmare of ancient Greece. Mr. and Mrs. Marcus D. Richards of Hubbard Woods with their daugh- ters, the Misses Fedelia, Mary Louise, and Marcia, will nass a portion of the summer at Frank O. Horton's H. F. Bar ranch. Mrs. Edwin B. Bartlett and her daughter, Laura, and Leslie Wilson will accompany the Richards. The party left vesterday. Riding and trout fishing will be the main activities of the party. --_---- Mrs. Charles H.
