June 23, 1928 WINNE TK A TALK 23 Whole World Looks to Chicago as 1933 World's Fair Looms Only two months have elapsed since the enrollment campaign for Chicago's centennial celebration was launched, on April 19, and already the uttermost parts of the world have enthused at the prospect of another great World's Fair at Chicago. Every activity in Chicago--commer- cial, social, industrial--is strongly rep- resented in the World's Fair legion, and for many miles around have come enrollments from people who believe that Chicago is destined to be the greatest city in the world. More than 5,000 famous poster artists all over the world are already entered in the contest to produce the official World's Fair posters. Robert B. Harshe, director of the Art Insti- tute of Chicago, sent the details of the contest to every poster artist known to the Art institute. News services have sent by tele- graph, cable, and mail, the details to every nation in the world. Seventy-five art magazines in Europe, besides scores on the Western continent, are also inviting competition. Harvey Wiley Corbett, of New York, chairman pro tempore of the centen- nial architectural commission, an- nounces that the best brains of the world are being invoked to make the celebration an architectural triumph. This, declares Mr. Corbett, includes architects, sculptors, artists, and crafts- men in general whose efforts will con- tribute to an unrivaled ensemble. Twenty or more national groups in Chicago have already organized in be- half of the centennial, enrolling in the World's Fair legion and also preparing for excellent exhibits from their native governments. Chicago will be the mecca for the world in 1933. World conventions em- bracing scores of activities will assem- ble in the city which was a frontier trading post less than 100 years ago. Miss Mary Fowler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Fowler of Kenilworth, had as her guest for the past week, Miss Jane Spencer of St. Louis. Medi iancan Travel asa manenjoys it, without one care. Evolved by Atomic Force?" was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, Sunday, June 17. The golden text was from Psalms 95:6, 7, "O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand." Among the citations which com- prised the lesson-sermon was the fol- lowing from the Bible: "In the begin- ning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . . . . All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made" (John 1:1, 3). The lesson-sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Lddy: "God creates and governs the universe, including man. The uni- verse is filled with spiritual ideas, which he evolves, and they are obed- ient to the Mind that makes them" (p. 295). ---- SIMMONS Beautyrest Mattresses 1 Gentle, yielding support is given by the more than 625 small coils 2 Deep, soft layers of fine new felt- ed cotton form luxurious cushion 3 Eight ventilators in side walls keep interior fresh and sweet always 4 Fabric pockets cut open to show tempered coil springs under tension 5 Sides and ends are of same fine construction as top and bottom 6 Attractive, durable cover.
