Rosenberg's The-Shop-for-Girls West Room, Second Floor Sheridan Shore to Tryout for International Races Sheridan Shore's Star class fleet will participate in the series of three elimination races open to all Star boats of the district to determine a representative for the international regatta. The first of these races will be held this Saturday over the Sheri- dan Shore course, and the other two will take place the morning and after- noon of July Fourth off the Navy pier. Winner of the sail off is awarded the Shipping Board inter-club trophy. It was won last year by Earl T. DeMoe's Dream Star. Last Saturday's event was a relay race which called for teams of three with each of the three sailing one leg of the Sheridan course. A copper can served at the "baton" and required some skillful sailing to pass from one sloop to the next. On the winning team Wesley Bowman in Dr. C. E Galloway's Stork sailed first, Jeven Haugan in Shirley Ann sailed second, and the Stork, sailing twice, was the anchor boat. On the second place team were William H. Noble in Nancy, John Dennison in Hummer and R. C. Teare in Omar. Chicago Centennial Celebration Work Begins Successfully That the welfare of the Mid-West is bound up with Chicago is proved by the experience of the Suburban Division Committee in the Enrollment campaign for Chicago's Centennial celebration in 1933. More than 100 cities and towns have been visited during the campaign that opened April 19, and invariably the reception has been warm and friendly. Many have asked the question: -- "Where would we be if there were no Chicago?" And they have answered their own question with the fact that Chicago is the greatest distributing center for the things that make life livable, in all the world. That the eyes of the outside world are upon Chicago and her Centennial receives daily proof. A recent recruit to the World's Fair Legion is Mayor A. H. Pulford, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who refers to himself as a "suburban- ite," and adds:-- "I am quite certain that your Cana- dian neighbors will make Chicago the 'Pilgrims' Mecca' in 1933, and that your city will write Chicago in the hearts of the world as a place of happy as- sociations and memories." and is Chicago area. orchestras.
