SECRETARY OF TAVERN CLUB Preston Boyden of 806 Rosewood avenue is secretary of the new Tavern Young People Will Have Big Part in Centennial Plans Young America will play a big part in Chicago's Centennial celebration. {n the realm of athletics that fact has long been assured, but recent develop- ments show that they will loom up big in other respects. Already the message of the Cen- tennial has been carried into more than 250,000 homes in Chicagoland through public and parochial school pupils. It has compelled an intensive, optimistic discussion. What caused it was Superintendent of Schools Bogan's invitation to the public school pupils of Chicago to write essays on the centennial. Simi- lar invitations were extended in vari- ous suburban communities. Likewise the younger element will take a big hand in the musical pro- gram. Already assured is an inter- national piano playing contest, open to boys and girls of school age, from which many virtuosos will probably be discovered. And an American school boy or girl may provide the architectural motif for one or more buildings at the cen- tennial. Samples that have been sub- . mitted from one of Chicago's high schools disclose rare talent. From a dozen different foreign na- tions have come acceptances of the invitation to compete in the contest to design the official World's Fair poster. World fame awaits the vic- tors.
