Just to prove that "the sport is | the thing" and not the $33,000 cash] purses put up, Bob Dow, the cowboy Attorney General of New Mexico, who | has a ranch near Roswell, that state, is coming to Chicago to rope. And Hoot Gibson, film favorite cowboy, is trying to get his movie contract modi- fied so that he can enter the calf-rop- ing and relay racing. In addition to these well known men are more than a hundred contestants who punch cattle for a living. Hoot Gibson is coming to Chicago to make his next photoplay, a rodeo sto- ry, against the background of the Chi- cago Rodeo. In it he finds the genuine atmosphere and large scale spectacle required for his picture. Spectators at the rodeo will have a chance to see the great motion picture being made. Tex Austin, managing director of the Chicago Rodeo has obtained the buckingest bronks, the saltiest wrest- ling steers, the wildest Brahma riding steers, and a band of wild horses to test the human contestants' skill to the limit. This is the fourth annual Rodeo to be held on the lake front, and the cow- boys believe that the public in this region has been seasoned to an under- standing that this is a contest and not an exhibition. It is the cowboys' Olympic games, their world's series. Posting of the largest total of rodeo Northwestern U. to Have Building for R.O.T.C. Unit Construction work was started last week on a new $75,000 2-story brick building on the Evanston campus of Northwestern university which will be used primarily as the headquarters of the military unit, the R. O. T. C. It will also relieve the pressure for class rooms in the college of liberal arts. The new building, which will be x43 feet, will have five class rooms and two offices on the first floor and four rooms and five offices on the sec- ond. It will be built just 19 feet north of Fisk hall on the lake front, and will be ready for occupancy when the fall term opens in September. Some seventy classes in the college of liberal arts have not been assigned rooms for next year because of lack of space, but the new building will take care of all of these. Both the militry and naval units of the R. O. T. C. at Northwestern uni- versity will have buildings of their own when this new structure is completed. The Navy Building on the lake front was completed last September. It was the original intention to call the new building for the military department the Army Building, but inasmuch as it will be used by the college of liberal arts in the emergency, it will be named Emergency Hall, Should the building not be finished when the fall term opens, classes will be 'accommodated temporarily in the Garrett Biblical Institute. purses offered this year have brought entries from the top-hands.
