Dr. Schneider has gone on to Cali- fornia where he will join the Sierra club on a three weeks' camping trip through Jasper park and British Co- lumbia. Utah's parks are the color photog- rapher's paradise, according to Dr. Schneider. A riot of color exists in the sandstone formations of the coun- try. He will publish a series of his pictures in the National Geographic magazine with Harry Wells of Chi- cago, next winter. BROS. = Flooded Skokie Area Sets Back Abatement Work Continued delay in the fight against mosquitoes in the north shore mosquito abatement district has been caused by the surplus of moisture during the last few weeks. The water had receded somewhat in the Skokie district the early part of the week, but the workers were still unable to get in where the water was above their waists. Blasting work for the new ditch now being dug by the Sanitary district will be resumed as soon as the high water recedes enough to make the work pos- sible. When the ditch is completed it will be possible for more of the sur- plus water to be carried off in times of excessive rainfall. Mosquitoes are very thick in the Skokie district, according to informa- tion from Mosquito Abatement head- quarters. They breed not only in the marshes, but in pools of water on pri- vate lawns and on improved property where it is impossible tc get rid of them by the use of oil, which destroys grass and plant life. Announcement has been made of the engagement of Miss Edith Lindwall, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Lindwall of 1020 Ash street, Win- netka, to Walter Howard, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Howard of Chi- cago. No definite wedding date has been set. Dr. Sofia Haag, after a two years' study of medicine in Europe, has re- turned to her home at 897 Cherry street. --Q-- Frederick Fried of New York City has arrived to spend a week with Mr. and Mrs. Brownell T.
