10 WINNETKA TALK August 11, 1928 Woman Injured in Crash of Cars on Tower Road When a car driven by Mrs. M. C. Eiseman of 1341 Asbury avenue, Win- netka, was struck by another car and turned over last Wednesday, Mrs. Eiseman's mother, Mrs. Alice H. Kaff- man, also residing at the same number on Asbury avenue, was painfully cut on the face and hands. She was removed to the residence of Dr. Ralph B. Bettman, 1124 Tower road, where her injuries were dressed. The accident occurred on Tower road at Gordon terrace. W. J. Ban- don of 373 Hazel avenue, Glencoe, was driving the other car, which struck the Eiseman car at the rear right fender, tipping the car over, breaking off both rear wheels and the glass in the right front door, according to the report of Officer Harold Lewis. Hubbard Woods Trust & Savings Bank 952 Linden Avenue Of course it cost you a little money . . . or, - Hubbard Woods Need Cars to Transport Orphans to Big Outing One thousand automobiles will be needed to transport 5,000 inmates of orphan asylums and homes for the aged to the annual outing to be held at Lincoln Park Thursday, August 16, under the auspices of the Orphans' Automobile Day association of Chicago. It will be the twenty-third annual pic- nic and more than fifty institutions in the Chicago district are to be in- cluded. The outing is non-sectarian. All de- nominations are invited. This year more little ones and old folks will be entertained than ever before. The cars are needed for only a few hours during the day. The guests are picked up at their respective homes before 9 o'clock in the morning, transported to the park, and the volunteers are asked to return at 4 o'clock for the home- ward trip. A fund of $5,000 has been contrib- uted to defray expenses of the out- ing. Lunches, ice cream, candy, toys and knickknacks are purchased and talent engaged for a vaudeville show which will include a dog and pony cir- cus, clowns and other numbers dear to the heart of the unfortunates. Those who wish to volunteer cars are asked to communicate with Rob- ert K. Sloan, Chicago Motor Livery- men's association, 326 West Madison street, by mail or phone State 4853. Mr. Sloan's committee will assign the cars to the nearest home to the volun- teers. "We have materially enlarged the scope of our operations. since the last outing," said President John C. Emery. "Volunteers will find the cause most worthy and will take as much joy out of their assignments as the unfortu- nates themselves." Summer School Director on Eastern Motor Tour Wesley L. Brown, director of the summer session at New Trier High school, and Mrs. Brown plan to leave this Saturday for Jackson, Mich, where they will attend the wedding of Mr. Brown's brother. They will then make a motor trip to Niagara Falls, Thousand Islands, the Catskill moun- tains, and other eastern points. They expect to be gone about two weeks. ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT Mr. and Mrs. J. Melville Brown of 99 Robsart road, Kenilworth, announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth, ta James Oliver Brooks of Wilmette. Forest Preserves Offer Fine Sites for Day's Outing The Forest Preserve commissioners are inviting the people of the north shore to visit and enjoy the 32,000 acres of Forest Preserves in Cook county.
