Hubert Burnham Designs Chicago Navy Memorial Hubert Burnham, Evanston archi- tect, has completed the plans for the navy memorial to be erected on the lake front at the west end of Navy Pier (formerly the Municipal Pier) in Chicago. The memorial is designed to express Chicago's importance in the national navy establishment, and a fund of $200,000 will be sought for its erection. The necessary land has been allocated at the pier. It is hoped to dedicate the site with appropriate ceremonies Navy Day, Oct. 27. The memorial is intended both to remember those who have given their lives in the service of the nation and to serve as a patriotic inspiration to the rising generation, as well as to testify to public appreciation of those who served and survived. LaSalle St. Main 0250 Churches to Have Important Part in 1933 Centennial The board of trustees of the Chica- go World's Fair 1933 Centennial Cele- bration has announced the appoint- ment of George W. Dixon as chairman of the Committee on Co-operation of Churches. The work of this commit- tee has not yet been defined, but it was the purpose of the board to provide first for the co-operation of the churches of Chicago and America in the organization of the Fair, and second for the co-operation of all the faiths of all humanity in a great new World's Parliament of Religions. "The opportunity before this com- mittee is so vast," said Mr. Dixon, "that I am almost overwhelmed by the responsibility. Of course I shall have in it all only the responsibility of an organizer. If the churches of America are to co-operate for the Fair, that must be achieved under the lead- ership of great figures in the American church. Likewise, if there is to be a great meeting of the religiously minded men and women of our time in a com- mon devotion to reverence and charity, that must be accomplished under the leadership of the greatest figures in the entire religious world. "The trustees will proceed deliber- ately in choosing the members of the committee. I haye no idea that can be accomplished short of several months. In the meantime we will have a modest office at the general headquarters of the Fair and thus provide a common meeting ground for church men and women who may desire to keep in touch with the Centennial." Dr. Rufus Stolp and Mr. Alden Sears of Kenilworth have spent the last week fishing at Bass Lake near Gogibick, Mich.
