I - --_p- - ® August 25, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 23 Shore Theaters 2 ALABAN 121 KATZ Lots of Hot Stuff on Alcyon Picture Program for Week There is plenty of "hot" stuff on the Alcyon picture program for the week beginning today. "Hot Heels" is on the bill today and "Hot News" is com- ing next Monday and Tuesday. Glenn Tryon and Patsy Ruth Miller are the principal actors in "Hot Heels." Tryon plays the part of the smart aleck who is perpetually spilling wise cracks. A good steeplechase is one of the features of "Hot Heels." The Alcyon is also offering a stage band presentation today. See Jiggs and Maggie Jiggs and Dinty, Maggie and Annie of the comic strip come to the screen in "Bringing up Father," to be shown at the Alcyon tomorrow. You'll rec- ognize them but not from any likeness to their cartoon pictures. They're a blunt, rolling-pin lot, who will make you laugh. Polly Moran and Marie Dressler pull off some good team work for the women, while J. Farrell Mac- Donald and Jules Cowles act neatly as Jiggs and Dinty. "Next to working in an amunition factory, I think the most dangerous job in the world is that of a newsreel cameraman!" So says Bebe Daniels, Paramount star, after several months of thrilling work in "Hot News," Alcyon picture for Monday and Tues- day. In this picture Miss Daniels plays the role of an intrepid newsreel girl who flirts with death on several occas- ions in order to get close-up views of great news events, and thus to help her father beat his competitors in the newspaper game. Barthelmess in Dual Role Richard Barthelmess will be seen in the strongest characterization of his movie career in "The Wheel of Chance," which has been booked for the Alcyon next Wednesday and Thursday, August 29 and 30. "The Wheel of Chance" is a tense drama. The main theme of the story--a man prosecuting his twin brother for murd- er, believing that brother was killed in childhood--has been done before, but the fine touches of Director San- tell make this intensely interesting and strongly appealing. Barthelmess plays dual roles as a polished lawyer and an uncouth gangster. "Alex the Great," another smart aleck comedy, is coming to the Alcyon next Friday, August 31. Dorothy Sebastian will play the heroine in "The Devil's Apple Tree." 2 poem omm oem ow G0 LARK Bill-O-Fare HOWARD AVE COLLEGIATE DANCE CONTEST Every Friday Nite Saturday, Avgust 25 "The Wright Idea" "Kit Carson" "The Mysterious Lady" "Sunrise" ..
