Wersted, Winnetka and Glencoe Dodge dealer. Factory production is being pushed on over- time schedules to supply dealers over the country as rapidly as possible, it is said. First shipments already have been made. The Senior, to be offered in varied body styles, represents advanced en- gineering design that stamps the car with an individual appearance charac- teristic of no other car. The body lines were adapted specifically to meet the latest American viewpoint on automo- tive design--a demand for color, beauty and the last word in fashion. Interior appointments of the car carry out additional features of its aristocratic style creation. Finishing of the instrument panel is harmonized with the upholstery and coach work in most unique manner. The car will be powered with an en- gine designed and built especially for the Senior Six, and is said to have set an unequaled serformance standard. WHY GO TO CHICAGO Automobile owners of the north shore are able to secure all the bene- fits of Chicago's automobile row inso- far as the servicing of their cars is concerned without going south of Ev- anston says James G. Barber, regis- tered American Automobile Associa- tion mechanician who operates at Ev- anston one of the largest service sta- tions in the County. Sometimes the starter will grind for five minutes without one cylinder showing a sign of life. This can be remedied by turning on the switch. Here's a Labor Day Trip--Visit the Irish Hills Fortunately for the motorist, Labor Day comes as a most welcome guest inasmuch as it permits the motor gypsy three days of week-ending into the realms of natureland. As a suggested tour, covering the three days, the touring bureau of The Automobile Club of Illinois in co-operation with this newspaper has outlined a trip to the Irish Hills located at a point a few miles from Clinton, Mich. This tour leads one through Gary, over the interesting Dunes Highway to Michigan City. Then over U. S. 20 to South Bend. then to Elkhart. At Elkhart, the route picks up U. S. 112 crossing north into Michigan and east to White Pigeon. A short distance from the highway between White Pig- eon and Sturgis, the next town east, are several beautiful lakes including the well known Klinger Lake, north of the highway and Pickerel Lake, south of the highway. Proceeding east, the next important town is Coldwater, where the Michigan boy's school is located. The route continues east by north to the Irish Hills located on the south side of U. S. 112, about five miles south- west of Clinton, the highway running through the northern foothills. It is one of the most picturesque districts of the middle west. Formerly because of lack of good roads it was almost inaccessible to tourists, but with the completion of U. S. 112 it is now easy to reach. The Irish Hills, as the name implies, consists of numerous hills, several hundred feet in height interspersed with numerous lakes. Several obser- vation towers about 150 feet high have been erected on high hills. Scenic beauty, said to rival even that of Yel- lowstone National Park can be seen for miles around from one of these towers on a clear day. Hills, valleys, rivers and thirty different lakes can be viewed from the highest point. From the Irish Hills this route re- turns west on U. S. 112 about five miles to a beautiful state park north of the road, then to Junction with M. 50. Then northwest on M. 50 to Jackson, where the Michigan penitentiary is located. Follow west on U. S. 12 to Battle Creek, the home of the famous Battle Creek Sanitarium. Just a little west of here on U. S. 12 Camp Custer is located. Continuing west on U. S. 12 the route goes to Kalamazoo where several large paper mills and the Michigan Insane institution is located. Continue on this highway, going through Paw Paw, Hartford, Water- vleit and Coloma. The route then continues to Benten Harbor, the center of the great Michi- gan fruit belt. Here is also located the House of David as well as amusement parks. At Benton Harbor the tourist can, if so desired, take a boat for Chi- cago or continue around the lake through St. Joseph or other well known summer resort towns. The drive from St. Joseph to Michigan City is of particular interest as it fol- lows the lake shore, allowing entranc- ing glimpses of Lake Michigan and the Dunes, winding around through the fruit belt. The roads are fine all the way and scenic throughout. Machine Reduces Repair Job Time at Skokie Garage The business of keeping cars fit is of big interest to the Skokie Motor company of Main street, Wilmette and with that in view there may be found almost every devise necessary for the rapid repairing of not only Fords, but other cars. While the company han- dles Ford work almost exclusively, D. W. Leonard yesterday called attention to the value of the equipment in the shop. "We've got a combination machine which cuts the working time on a job right in half" he said. This machine which is only five feet long and eigh- teen inches wide is used for reboring, line reaming and cutting. It is really three machines in one. "The importance of this machine is our shop is attested by the fact we have garage men from several sec- tions of the north shore coming here to have their reboring, line reaming or cutting done on this machine. They come from Evanston, Winnetka, Glen- coe and one firm in Libertyville sends this type of work to our shop." New Highway of 74 Miles a Colorado Achievement Seventy-four miles of concrete road reaching from Denver to Colorado Springs, during the construction of which thirteen grade crossings were thrown into the discard by means of grade separation, is one of the accom- plishments of Colorado this year. Sharp turns and angles have been converted into broad sweeping curves, and steep grades have been leveled down to easily negotiable hills, thus setting an example which other com- munities may consider with profit when contemplating highway building.
