Winn. 330 - 1317B-3) -------- British Authority Sounds Praise Note for Graham-Paige High praise for an American car by a recognized British authority is con- tained in a recent report of a road test of a six-cylinder Graham-Paige model 619, conducted by "The Motor," leading automobile publication of Great Britain. "The Graham-Paige," says "Motor" in summing up its analysis, "is an ex- ceptionally attractive car, being pos- sessed of a fine performance, and pro- viding the comfort of many vehicles costing nearly double." Four-speed cars are popular in Europe, so naturally "Motor" was par- ticularly interested in the improved type of four-speed drive used in the Graham-Paige, utilizing internal gears to provide a quiet third speed. "The manufacturers of the Graham- Paige," says the British authority, must be given the credit for being the first American concern to realize that a big six or eight-cylinder engine is capable of dealing with its load satisfactorily in a much higher gear than the average 5 to 1 ratio favored by other American concerns. "The fact that four forward speeds are available is, however, by no means the most interesting point, for the out- standing features are the practically fool-proof gear change and the silence of the transmission when third is em- ployed; so quiet is it, in fact, that an expert would not be able to detect the difference at speeds up to 50 miles per hour. "The car covered a flying half-mile at Brooklands in 234-5 seconds, equivalent to 75.63 miles per hour, which incidentally is the highest speed we have ever attained on a standard American production model submitted to us for test. Wersted Shop Now Has Four Car Greasing Rack The new air pressure greasing rack has been completed at the W. T. Wersted Motor company of Winnetka, dealers in Dodge Brothers cars. This makes it possible to handle four greas- ing jobs at the same time and saves considerable time, according to Mr. Wersted. KEEP OFF THE STREET Parents should take the time to teach their children to keep out of the street while playing and be very care- ful at all times when crossing the street.
