Streed of Kenilworth has returned from a two weeks' vacation spent in northern Wis- consin. SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL Kenilworth's New $60,000 School Ad- dition to Include Gymnasium Dedi- cated to War Heroes "Kenilworth Memorial Gymnasium" is the inscription to be cut into the stone above the entrance of Kenil- worth's new $60,000 gymnasium, con- struction of which was started several weeks ago. That this new addition to the Joseph Sears school in Kenilworth has been designed as a memorial to the soldiers of the community who died in the World war was revealed this week after the drive for the $60,000 neces- sary to construct the building had reached the $40,000 mark. The Kenilworth board of education voted to make the new gymnasium a memorial several weeks ago when it felt sure that the campaign for funds to pay for the building would be suc- cessful. John K. Byrne, who is direct- ing the campaign, believes that with the return of vacationists the remain- ing $20,000 can be raised. Meantime the board of education has ordered the construction work on the gymnasium to go ahead. The ma- sonry work on the unit will be ready soon, and it is hoped that the interior can be finished and equipment installed immediately after the completion of the exterior work, In addition to the inscription above the entrance to the new gymnasium, there will be a bronze frieze on the inside of the building containing the names of all Kenilworth boys who fought in the war. The main Joseph Sears school addi- tion is also rapidly nearing completion. Plasterers were busy there this week. Since this part of the school plant will not be ready in time for the open- ing of school next week the kinder- garten and first four grades will be placed in temporary quarters.
