She is Mrs. Fannie Applewhite of San Antonio who as chairman of the courtesy committee of the American Legion Auxiliary is planning a day nursery for the use of parents who bring small children to the joint conventions of Legion and Auxiliary, to be held in that city Oc- tober 8 to 12. Trained nurses and kindergarten workers, assisted by the courtesy com- mittee, will give expert care to the little folks so that parents may be free to enjoy the varied convention entertainments. The auxiliary alone has a full program beginning October 5, with the arrival in San Antonio of Mrs. Irene McIntyre Walbridge, na- tional president, and extending through the entire convention period, October 8 to 12. In advance of the convention, en- tertainments will be given by the Fed- eral clubs and the patriotic organiza- tions of San Antonio. In addition to committee meetings, the Aloha break- fast, the past presidents' parley lunch- eon, and a tea and reception planned by San Antonio women at the Coun- try club will fill Sunday, October 7. With the opening of the Auxiliary convention Monday, October 8, will come entertainments, chief among them, a "garden tea" in the courtyard of the Alamo, given by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. The host- esses will be Mrs. Clara Driscoll Sev- ier, of Austin, whose timely purchase of the Alamo property for the Daugh- ters of the Republic of Texas saved the historic building from destruction, and Mrs. O. M. Farnsworth, president of the Daughters. Meanwhile the Auxiliary offers Fidac, 8 and 40 entertainments, a States' dinner at the Gunter hotel and an absorbing convention program, while the Legion entertainment fills day and night. There will be a rodeo, a decision prize fight, battle exercises by the Old Second Division, two of the greatest air circuses ever staged, a Folies Bergeres show, parades and frolics of winning drum corps, bands, and drill teams, with trips to the bor- der and old Mexico, bull fights and Spanish fiestas, and at the close of the convention, the commander's tour to Mexico City. Milan Lusk Home from Concert Tour Abroad Milan Lusk, violinist, has returned this week to his home at 810 Michigan avenue, Wilmette, after a successful concert tour of European countries. He has decided to take a few addition- al pupils of the violin as he is re- suming his regular teaching schedule this week. Mr. Lusk gave a recital last month in Pisek, Bohemia, the home town of the great violin pedagogue, Professor Sevcik, who wrote to friends after Lusk's concert: "He played magnifi- cently. Tt was indeed a great treat that he furnished us with his most beautiful playing." Professor Gregor writing in the Pisek Listy said: "We have had oc- casion to hear this outstanding violin- ist several times and admire the depth and interpretation of many "a vio- lin composition. Last Saturday night he played the d'Ambrosio concerto and shorter pieces including his own suc- cessful composition "Romance" in which he proved himself a talented composer. In his playing he exhibited a sparkling technic, an easy flowing tone which was remarkable for its songfulness. He received a thunder- ous applause."
