Not since Lubliner and Trinz took over the house, ac- cording to Manager Murphy, has there been such a large attendance. At both evening performances the picture played to capacity houses and many were turned away. The Vitaphone installation was de- clared to be the most perfect in the entire Chicago area. The effect, ac- cording to electrical experts who made the installation, is due both to the fact that the perfected Vitaphone is being used and the fact that the theater was originally built with perfect acoustics. Sally Phipps Stars in Teatro del Lago Film This Saturday In "None But the Brave," featuring Charles Morton and Sally Phipps, which will be shown at the Teatro del Lago this Saturday, September 22, the high spot is an international beauty pageant, filmed in color and said to be a revelation in the matter of pro- gress made in color photography. Twelve beauties were selected for the pageant from several thousand of Hollywood's prettiest. They are: Sally Phipps, Eleanor Black, Jacque- line Wells, Edna Sumida, Leaota Win- ters, Ada Williams, Lola Salvi, Irene Murray, Virginia Parent, Diane Dare, Marguerite Andrus, and Betty Lor- raine. In the aggregate these girls have won more than 100 beauty con- tests. Which type of girl does the modern man want for his wife, the old fash- ioned, or the flapper? The answer to this question is to be found at the Teatro del Lago this Sunday in "Don't Marry," with Lois Moran and Neil Hamilton. It is the story of the de- lightful romance of Priscilla Bowen, who, despite her puritanical surround- ings, is a product of the modern age. Miss Moran, in the role of Priscilla, is given a large scope for her versa- tility, and her treatment of the comedy situations' is subtle and well timed. Neil Hamilton, as the confirmed bache- lor who succumbs to Priscilla's charms, is excellent foil for Miss Moran. "The Garden of Eden," with Corinne Griffith, Louise Dressler, Charles Ray, and others, comes to the Teatro del Lago Monday for two days. It is a light and whimsical comedy drama, - all very spirited and charmingly pre- sented. It is chiefly concerned with the activities of Toni Le Brun, a baker's niece, played by Miss Grif- fith, who receives a musical diploma and leaves Vienna for Budapest, be- lieving herself engaged to sing in Instead she finds her- self booked to entertain in a naughty cafe, and what takes place thereafter is delightfully interesting. A laughter romance on which metropolitan reviewers have placed the stamp of approval, "The Play Girl," is to be shown at the Teatro del Lago next Wednesday, September 26. Madge Bellamy stars in the title role. The story deals with the life of a little shop girl tired of work and hungry for beautiful clothes and amusement. Johnny Mack Brown nlavs the poor man in love with Miss Bellamy, and Walter McGrail, the rich one, also in lave, but not sufficiently so to want to marry her. The plot of "The Mysterious Lady," coming to the Teatro del Lago next Thursday and Friday, is laid in the rival countries, Russia and Austria, in the days preceding the World War. Greta Garbo, as a beautiful Russian spy who falls in love with an Austrian officer whom she has disgraced, plays with feeling and distinction. In her support, Conrad Nagel gives a splen- didlv romantic touch to his difficult part. HISTORICAL PICTURE Marie Prevost is the feminine star of "The Exodus of the New World," a film enic dealing with the history of the Mormons. It is in process of pro- duction. ---- Dorothy Sebastian will have the starring role in "The Devil's Apple Tere" forthcoming Tiffany-Stahl pro- duction.
