The Pur- ple varsity will clash with Butler in the first game of the double bill and the Wildcat reserves will meet Loyola university of Chicago in the after piece. Both these visiting teams have strong aggregations and will place a severe test on Coach Hanley's pro- teges. The Butler Bulldogs are coached by Potsy Clark, famous Illinois player, who has gained considerable recogni- tion in the coaching field. Much of Butler's hope in the com- ing tilt will depend on John Cavosie, their backfield ace who is reputed to be the best product seen at Butler in years. He is a sophomore weighing 195 pounds, a good kicker, splendid passer, and something of a sensation at reeling off yardage. Other back- field hopes are Francis Royce, 170 pound letterman; Maurice Baker, full- back letterman; Alan Fromuth, quar- terback, who does most of the kicking and passing; Oral Hutchins, good left handed passer, and Hubert Hinchman, fullback. Bulldog Line Strong The Bulldog line is also something to talk about with several 200 pounders on the list. Robert Schopf, Willard Warth, and George Haftzger, all let- termen, will probably see most of the service at tackle. The guards include George Fredenberger, junior letter- man; William McCarthy, 190 pound sophomore, and Bill Bugg, 190 pound senior, Some fleet ends are included in the following quartet of veterans; Alonzo Watford, fullback last year but now playing at a flank job; Herman Gei- sert, Howard Crosby and Wilho, Maki, nicknamed "The Fleet Finn." James Puett, sophomore center, is the big- gest man on the squad, weighing 210 pounds. Hamilton Clark is the other pivot man, Loyola expects much from its soph- omores this fall with much promis- ing new blood coming up from the frosh. Larry Faul, a halfback, isa good prospect to replace Griffin. Downs, of last year's eleven, is back and will hold down one of the backfield jobs. Other prospects are Malloy, Murphy, Etu, and Shanahan. Hold Tryouts Soon for New Trier Debate Team Tryouts for the New Trier High school debating team will be held within the next three weeks, it was announced this week at the high school. The loss of Rolland Simonds, winner of the Il- linois-Wisconsin extemporaneous speak- ing contest and member of the new Trier debating squad last year, will be keenly felt. Frank Gilchrist, leader of last year's negative team, will be missed also. John Erickson and Bob Forster, regu- lars of last year, are back in school and will bolster New Trier"s hopes for a winning debate team this year. Mrs. B. F. Ellsberry has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Hicks, 241 Melrose avenue, Kenilworth.
