WINNETKA TALK September 29, 1928 . Westmoor Trail in Winnetka HERE is the exceptional location for building a beautiful home - offer- ing. All of the advantages of delightful country life, where the air is clean and clear, far away from noise and dust and dirt and smoke, on a private drive now rapidly near- ing completion with all improvements under- ground, where they should be-- a place where traffic can't go roaring by to endanger your children-- a location close to schools, surrounded by beautiful homes -- having restrictions which forever insure growing values and plots laid out so that vour nearest neighbor's house cannot be nearer than sixty feet from your own. HERE is one of the few remaining beauty spots of the North Shore, in our own Village of Winnetka, you may still be able to get a location exactly suited to your wants, at a price less than anything compar- able. All of the lots pur- chased to date have been by our own Win- netka residents, long ac- quainted with Winnetka locations and Winnetka values. Call me up for an ap- pointment to show you its many advantages. Glen C. Bull 500 MAPLE AVE. WINNETKA Winnetka 1016 or Central 6970 Public Forum Editor, WINNETKA TALK: The days of registration for the coming election are not the same in Chicago as they are in that portion of Cook county lying outside the city. Registration days for the Cook coun- ty suburbs will be Saturday, October 6 and Tuesday, October 16. The Registration hoards consist of the regular appointed judges of elec- tion in each precinct, and the places of registration will be the regular poll- ing places. The hours of registration will be 7 A. M. to 4 P. M. The Chicago newspapers always sol- emnly announce that the times of reg- istration will be thus and so, never stating that these times vary, as be- tween city and suburbs. By publish- ing this information you will help New Trier voters to register on the proper day. --Carlton Prouty Republican Precinct committman, Twenty-fifth New Trier Precinct. Woodward, acting president of the University of Chicago, have pledged the great institutions of learning of which they are the heads, to unquali- fied support of the Chicago Centennial celebration in 1933. Both regard Chicago's coming World's Fair as an educational enter- prise of extraordinary possibilities. In letters written to Rufus C. Dawes, president of the Centennial commit- tee, they cordially endorse the program as one that will advance the progress of civilization. Stephen C. Simms, director of the Field Museum of Natural History, an- nounces that unusual efforts are being made to prepare for the Celebration, as a part of the Centennial. Thus three of the greatest educational institutions in the Mid-West have declared them- selves for the World's Fair. Cablegrams from Paris, Munich and Moscow, urgently requesting more time, have caused the postponement of the closing date for the World's Fair Poster Contest from September 15 to October 12. Chauncey McCormick, chairman of the "Art Committee, announces that nearly 100 posters have been received. Since the cablegrams came from art committees, it 1s expected that several able artistic efforts will come from each point. Secretary of Labor James J. Davis has commended to the Centennial trustees a series of nine great inter- national conferences for the considera- tion of labor;~industrial and economic problems, Splendid expressions of approval from the outside world prove the wis- dom of the Enrollment campaign. Chi- cagoans are telling the world what will be done here, and every five dol- lar contribution to the Enrollment Fund is a further guaranty of the greatest enterprise ever attempted. Voters League and Guild Change Luncheon Hours Since it was found necessary to put the opening meeting of the Winnetka League of Women Voters on the same day that the first meeting of the Women's guild of Christ church is to be held, the two organizations are co- operating so that a member of the Women's guild who wishes to attend that meeting may also go to the meet- ing of the League of Women Voters in time to hear the principal address of the day. The luncheon of the guild has been set one half hour earlier, coming at 12 o'clock, and the League of Women Voters has set the time of its luncheon at 1. to the final painting.
