a October 20, 1928 WINNETKA TALK CONG'L CHURCH BIDS FAREWELL TO PASTOR (Continued from page 3) he stood, his usual modest smiling self, while the moderator presented him with the resolutions. Dr. Richards replied in his 'own gracious way, with deep feeling but with a touch of humor that for the moment relieved the pent-up emotions of his audience. Referring to the reso- lutions, he said that while he could not believe all the generous things their affection had led them to say of him, nor believe he was the kind of minister they described, he could say from his heart that that was the kind of min- ister he wished he might be. At the close of the meeting ample opportunity was given for a farewell hand-clasp, and the congregation, one by one, availed themselves of it.
