\ WINNETKA TALK October 27, 1928 Dinner and Dancing Celebrate Birthday Mr. and Mrs. F. E. M. Cole of 315 Essex road, Kenilworth, gave a dinner for twelve young people Saturday eve- ning for Miss Bernice Cole. After the dinner their guests danced at the Club Vista del Lago where refreshments were served at midnight. The affair was given in celebration of Miss Bernice's birthday on Sunday. Five of the girls and several of the young men came down from Lake Forest college for the dinner. Miss Mabel Propper, Miss Mary Ellen Parasoe, Miss Elizabeth Milner, and Miss Echo Hasse were Miss Bernice's guests over the week-end. They all returned to Lake Forest college Sun- day evening. Middlebrook Club Holds Initial Golf Tournament The first golf tournament was held on the course of the Middlebrook Country club tormerly Breakers Coun- try club, last Sunday. In spite of the weather conditions more than seventy-five people played. The class A prize being tied between S. M: Abrons and Mr. F. C. Wilkins with a score of 88. There also were driving and putting contests. The house committee expects to open the dining room for service very soon and the sports and pastimes com- mittees are preparing for the winter sports and card parties. Officers are C. A. Welles, president; C. E. Callender, secretary; B. E. Gage, treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Jensen, 379 Rosewood avenue, were surprised last Sunday evening by forty of their friends who came to celebrate the Jen- sens' twentieth wedding anniversary. Kenosha is reputed to have a very strong team. It is especially strong in punting, averaging about forty-four yards. New Trier should be able to take care of the invaders however, for the Kenosha entry was beaten by Waukegan and the Gray- Green team smothered Waukegan last Saturday. Waukegan conquered Kenosha three weeks ago, 7 to 0. The victors made a drive in the first quarter that re- sulted in the only touchdown; but from then on the Wisconsin team out- played them and displayed an offensive that is sure to worry the New Trierites this Saturday. Kenosha's long punting was the feature of the game. BENEFIT FOR HIGH SCHOOL A card party for the benefit of Mal- linckrodt, the north shore Catholic high school for girls, will be held at 2 o'clock, November 3, in the Mal- linckrodt school building at Ridge road and Walnut avenue, Wilmette.
