| | 60 WINNETKA TALK October 27, 1928 CANADIAN FARMERS BUY CARS One of the political issues is what can or will be done to help the Amer- ican farmer. Apparently from the way they are spending money for auto- mobiles and trucks, the farmers of the Canadian northwest, especially throughout Manitoba, need no assist- ance. They are buying motor vehicles as never before. Sixty per cent of all automobiles distributed in Manitoba this season have gone to farmers, or residents in the farming districts. TIRE SHIPMENTS ON RISE Shipments of all types of pneumatic automobile casings in August amount- ed to 6,302,258 units, an increase of 1,507,087 units, or 31 per cent over the same month of last year, according to the report just issued by the Rubber Association of America, Inc. ALCOHOL STOCKS DECLINE On-hand stocks of industrial alcohol continue to show a marked decline, as evidenced by the September 1 figures which total 17 per cent less than those for the corresponding period of 1927, of 2,543,452 wine gallons, according to a statement issued by the Industrial Alcohol Institute. TO CUT AUTO PRICES IN BERLIN A considerable reduction in auto- mobile prices is anticipated in the coming exhibition in Berlin, beginning in November, bringing all small cars down to 2,000 marks which automatic- ally must be followed by manufactur- ers of bigger cars, including the Americans. BRIGHTER COLORS FOR CARS The tendency toward brighter colors and a more elaborate decoration of cars, already noticed last year, was morc accentuated than ever at this year's Automobile Salon, 1928 Marmon Used very little 1926 Hupmobile "6" 1926 Jordan Coupe New paint 1927 Chevrolet Sedan 1927 Whippet 1925 Hup Touring $1175.00 USED CARS Fall Clean-Up SALE BUY WITH SAFETY 675.00 625.00 375.00 325.00 125.00 1925 Chev.
