The final tryouts will be held in about two weeks, and twenty-five boys are ex- pected to compete, according to Ches- ter E. MacLean, New Trier debate coach. The car, parked on Sheridan road, proved to be the property of Arthur L. Hardin of 1456 Fargo avenue, Chicago, a real estate operator with offices at 77 West Washington street, and the occupants, Jack Free and Arthur Whiteneck, had a gun in the machine. Free gave his age as 15. Whiteneck, who is much older, claimed to be the boy's uncle. Both gave their address as 1554 Juneway terrace, Chicago. or fancied tales of many harrowing escapades of the pair, who, upon being turned over to the Chicago police, were held to the grand jury with bonds fixed at $5,000 each.
