20 - WINNETKA TALK November 10, 1928 Kenilworth Grid Team Splits in Wilmette Games The Joseph Sears school of Kenil- worth finished the season in the North Shore Grammar School Football league last week by dividing a double- header with teams representing Wil- mette. After a poor showing early in the season the Kenilworth heavyweight team (boys under 100 pounds) hit its stride and last week defeated Wil- mette again, this time by a 9 to 0 score. The victory was more impres- sive in view of the fact that Wilmette has won from the Boltwood and Haven schools in Evanston. The Joseph Sears lightweights (boys under 85 pounds) lost to Wilmette, 6 to 0. With the closing of the grammar school league season, interest centered on the football meet which was to be held at Joseph Sears field this Satur- day morning. The following events were to be run off: 75-yard dash with football equipment on; punt for dis- tance; drop kick for distance; drop kick for goal; forward pass for dis- tance, and forward pass for accuracy. Plans are under way for a big foot- ball banquet on November 30 which will close the season officially. At this banquet the annual awarding of foot- ball medals will take place. Watson Lectures on Art Attract Wide Attention The popularity of the lectures given by Dudley Crafts Watson at the Com- munity House in Winnetka under the auspices of the North Shore Art League was again proven last Monday evening. A group of three hundred people waited for thirty minutes after the time scheduled for the lecture. Mr. Watson's able handling of his subject, "The Art and Life of Northern Africa" more than repaid his listeners for their patience. Mr. Watson's next lecture will be given Monday evening, November 19, and his subject is to be "Modern Architecture." Single tickets may be procured at the door for each of these lectures for those who did not procure the books for the course. New Trier has an impressive record thus far this season. All of its games, with the exception of the tie game with Waukegan, have been won by decisive scores. Deerfield's record is not so impres- sive, but the team has shown strength in recent games. Last Saturday Deer- field held the undefeated Evanston High school team to a 2 to 0 victory. New Trier is probably Deerfield's great- est rival, and a battle royal is ex- pected. Last year New Trier sent the Deer- field boys home on the short end of a 19 to 6 score. In 1926 New Trier lost to the Highland Park school 20 to 0. Coach Ashenbach arjnounced this week that the starting lineup for New Trier probably would be the same as in the Oak Park game. Tom Hicks, halfback, who got into last Saturday's game after being laid up all season and ran 60 yards for a touchdown on the first play, injured his knee and may be unable to play against Deerfield. If New Trier can defeat Deerfield Saturday, it will have only two ob- stacles in the way of an undefeated record--Streator and Evanston. Strea- tor is comparitively weak while Evan- ston is not only strong but an old rival of New Trier. Evanston is undefeated thus far this season. Mrs. John C.
