November 10, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 29 Husky Purdue Men Next Opponents of Powerful Wildcats Northwestern and Purdue, tradi- tional rivals since 1895, will meet in their twenty-first contest at Dyche stadium here Saturday. In the twenty games played to date each team has won an even ten games. The Wild- cats won the first game back in 1895 by 24 to 6 and dropped the last one in 1927 18 to 6. Both teams are expected to be in tip-top condition for the forthcoming engagement. Purdue had little trou- ble in disposing of Case with its re- serve team 19 to 0 last Saturday. Northwestern had a tough encounter with Minnesota but escaped with only minor bruises. The Boilermakers will send one of their strongest teams to Evanston. With such stellar ball carriers as "Pest" Welch, Caraway and Harmseon, it is doubtful whether Purdue has had such a backfield since the days of Elmer Oliphant. Welch will perform at left halfback while Harmseon will function at quarterback. Eb Caraway and Al Guthrie, two of the steadiest players on the squad, will complete the backfield. Coach Hanley will start much the same lineup that turned back Minne- sota Saturday. "Yatz" Levison who called signals so satisfactorily and also speared a number of passes will again pilot the eleven. Bill Griffin, little sophomore half who has turned in such capable performances against Illinois and Minnesota seems to have cinched the left halfback position. Capt. Walter Holmer, one of the outstanding fullbacks in the conference this year, will be seen at his old po- sition while Bill Calderwood, who transformed a Minnesota fumble into a touchdown for his mates, will start at right half. Tom Verdell, senior and Frank Baker, sophomore, are likely to start at the end posts while Hazon and Sinkler will perform at tackle. Ander- son and Sullivan seem to have the call on the guard positions while Mickey Erickson will function at center. Saturday will be Dads' day at North- western and several thousand fathers are expected to attend the contest. They will be seated in special sections of the stands at the game. Tickets for the game are still on sale at the ticket office in Evanston and at Marshall Fields and Spauldings in Chicago. A large number of good seats are still available and will be on sale until game time Saturday. Miss Frances Thurston, one of the senior delegates of Mallinckrodt High school outlined the 'method of procedure of religious activities car- ried on in the school, touching especi- ally on the work being done by the Fucharistic committee. Miss Gerald- ine Weber, another of the senior dele- gates, told of the work being done for missions. During the afternoon session the students discussed the busi- ness of the conference.
