Belle Bennett is to be starred in a production entitled "Reputation." "While the City Sleeps" To Be Shown at Norshore Instead of "Beggars of Life," the picture announced early this week for the Norshore attraction beginning this Saturday, that theater will present "While the City Sleeps," with Lon Chaney playing the leading role. Mr. Chaney leaves off his makeup in this picture and acts like a human being. In doing so he proves that an occasional straight role is good for the big char- acter actors. The story is about crooks, and Chaney gives a remarkable characterization. "SHOW BOAT" READY SOON The filming of the musical show, "Show Boat," has been completed, with the exception of the extensive sound features which will accompany it. Studio officials are convinced that the film will be one of the milestones of moving picture history. Lawrence Grey has been signed for the male lead in "White Silence," a Fox talking picture. He will also play in "Follies," another Fox production. Alice White's next is "Hot Stuff," a college story. Wives and sweethearts also will be admitted. Jack Mulhall is co-featured with Dorothy Mackaill in "Waterfront," coming to the Teatro del Lago this Sunday. The scene is laid along the San Francisco waterway, where an old skipper dreams of the day when he and his daughter Sallie (Miss Mac- kaill) can enjoy secluded farm life. Sallie loves the sea and waits for a sailor lover to take her away. When Breezy O'Connor (Mr. Mulhall) blows into port, dad recognizes the danger signal and rises to meet it. But, as you might guess, the story ends happily. "Take Me Home," a comedy drama dealing with back stage life, will be shown at the Teatro del Lago next Monday and Tuesday. Bebe Daniels has the role of a pert little chorus girl. Neil Hamilton has the sort of role Charles Ray used to play, that of a country boy who comes to the - big town. Bebe helps the country boy and gets him a part in the show in which she dances. And before the picture is finished Bebe has given a severe beat- ing to the star of the show who at- tempts to take the country lad away from her. Florence Vidor gives a delightful portrayal of a clever Parisienne who flirts magnificently in "The Magni- ficient Flirt," Teatro del Lago attrac- tion for next Wednesday, November 28. The plot is complicated by the romance of her flapper daughter, done by Loretta Young. Matty Kemp and Loretta give a charming picture of youthful love and innocence. For Thanksgiving day and the Fri- day following the Teatro del Lago is offering Buster Keaton in "The Cameraman," hilarious romance of an apprentice news reel man in New York. The comedian stages a series of adventures in which he falls into a Chinese tong war and off a boat during a Newport race; he figures in a fire and a near riot, gets walked over by a parade, and drops off a four story building. Marceline Day is the hero- ine. The Teatro del Lago has announced a special matinee for Thanksgiving day. ANOTHER THRILLER Pat O'Malley will play the leading male role in another underworld thriller, "Nightstick," which Roland West will produce and direct as a talking picture for United Artists, Mae Busch will have one of the supporting roles, and Eleanor Griffith, New York stage star, will be leading lady. NEW ROLE FOR BETTY Betty Compson, whose acting in "The Docks of New York" has been praised highly, will play heroine to Richard Barthelmess in "Weary River," just started in Hollywood. A southern prison furnishes the locale for this picture. "Why Be Good?".s the title of Col- leen Moore's next starring production. It is to be a jazzy story of gay city life.
