December 1, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Northwestern Club Holds Annual Dinner to Award Trophies The Northwestern Golf club will hold its regular annual dinner at the North Shore hotel, Evanston, Thursday night, December 6, 1928. President H. M. Bachman will present the several 1928 trophies to the following winners: Northwestern Championship cup to Joseph I. Morrison, also a Gold Medal watch fob. The runner-up, J, P. Stras- ser will receive a silver medal watch fob. The Ladies' Championship cup to Mrs. Josephine Krudwig. The Presi- dent's trophy to Herbert J. Frank. The runner-up was won by Joseph I. Mor- rison. County Commissioner Oscar W. Schmidt donated a silver cup for a special tournament and Commissioner Schmidt will present this cup to the winner, M. F. Lane. These tourna- ments were all on a handicap basis ex- cept the championship which was scratch. The election of officers for the year 1929 will be held and plans made for the coming season of 1929. E. J. Hicks Entertains N. T. Football Heroes E. John Hicks, 241 Melrose avenue, Kenilworth, had as his guests at the Northwestern - Dartmouth game on Saturday the entire New Trier football squad consisting of fifty-six boys and their coaches, Mr. Aschenbach, Mr. Caton and Mr, Persing and their wives, Mr. Hicks has two sons who have played on the first team for several years. Hunter plays quarterback and Tom, halfback. After the game he had the entire squad as his guests at the Skokie Country club for dinner. They were served in a private dining room of the club which was decorated in "Gray and Green," the New Trier colors. While the boys were having their supper, Mrs. Hicks entertained the coaches' wives in an adjoining room. The boys had been looking forward to this wonderful party for a long time and it was a fitting celebration for the record made by the New Trier team this year. Hunter Hicks expects to enter Dartmouth next year. Mrs. Ernest Palmer Heads Drive for Girls' School As president of the alumnae of the University School for Girls, located on Lake Shore drive, Chicago, Mrs. Ernest Palmer of Evanston is directing a drive for an endowment fund for which alumnae will work for months to come. The school, which has been con- ducted by Miss Anna Haire for 32 years, must leave its present site and will build north of Lincoln Park in the near future, enabled by the endowment which it is seeking to raise among its friends and former students. These include many from Evanston, accord- ing to Mrs. Palmer, who heads the group of 400 women graduates of the school and was elected to office in October. There will be another meet- ing in January which she will call. Dudley Crafts Watson is a member of the jury which will pass upon works offered by the All-Illinois Society of the Fine Arts at its third annual ex- hibition at the Stevens hotel from December 1-15. i Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ellsworth, 460 Cedar street, are spending a fornight at Hot Springs, Ark. where they motored last week-end.
