A big decline in October production com- bined with the delay by Ford in work- ing high speed production are the main factors in preventing the establishment of a new mark, The highest mark ever made by the industry was estab- lished in 1926. Auburn Announces a Line of Sixes; New Policy Seen In an announcement by the Auburn Automobile company of a completely new line of sixes, known as the 6-80, and a new line of straight eights, known as the 8-90, may probably be seen the inauguration of a policy that will eventually broaden this company's line to include all price ranges. These new models replace the 6-76 and 6-88 respectively. County Road Building Sets a Record for Year Cook county built twice as many miles of new and wider pavement in the year 1928 than ever built before in Cook county and more than ever attempted by any county in the United States. This was the outstanding fea- ture of the annual message of Pres- ident A. J. Cermak, which was pre- sented to the Cook county board of Commissioners. Greenleaf 1110 Six Nations Show T heir Finest Cars at New York Salon Six nations are participating in the annual Automobile Salon now being held at the Commodore Hotel in New York. These nations are France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, England and the United States. Fourteen American body builders and two from abroad have special exhibits and the latest creations of six more European body builders are being shown on various foreign chassis. The exhibit is the largest and finest yet held, filling both the main lobby and the ball room floor of the big hotel, and bringing together custom built cars with an aggregate value of more than $1,000,000. Because of the character of its ex- hibits, the seventh national power show, being held at Grand Central Palace, is attracting many persons in- terested in the production and sales of automobiles and motor products, With more than 525 exhibitors, this year's exposition can truly be called the largest industrial display ever held in Grand Central Palace. Of this number a goodly portion has a direct bearing on the motor and allied in- dustries, while nearly all of the ex- hibits will in some way hold particular interest to the motor engineer and ex- ecutive. The exposition is not open to the public. Only engineers, business ex- ecutives, technical and production men, architects, contractors and others re- llated to engineering industries are admitted. here is your oppor- »
