It was decided to have the Christmas Children's Service on Sunday evening at 6:30 o'clock instead of on Christmas eve. This was done because this arrangement would enable many more people to attend the service. It was also decided to have only two services on Christmas Day, the first early morning service at 6:30 and the second service at 9:45 o'clock. The usual 11 o'clock service will be omitted. The annual election of officers of the church resulted as follows: Deacons: G. Seehafer and E. Cramer; Trustee: C. Schmeisser; Secretaries: Edwin Fromm and C. Lochner; Treasurer: G. Rein- hardt; Fin. The budget for the year 1929 as out- lined by the church council was ap- proved by the congregation. Copies of this budget will be sent to every member of the church together with a booklet in which the needs of the synod are set forth. On Sunday next, December 16, the canvassers appointed by the church will begin their canvass for subscriptions. The pastor, Herman W. Meyer, has been invited by the Walther league of the University of Chicago to address them Friday evening, December 14 on the "Supernatural in the Bible," with special reference to the 'Doctrine of the Inspira- tion of the Scriptures" and the "Miracles of the Old and New Testament." Sun- day evening he will give his lecture on Early Lutheranism in America from 1529 to 1838, at St. Peter's Lutheran church, Joliet, III Sunday, December 16, it will be exactly five years to the day that the new St. John's Lutheran church was dedicated to the service of God. In view of the fact that the congregation just celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary there will be no elaborate festivities. There will, how- ever, be a special service of commemor- ation and thanks, and the special at- tention of all members is called to this. The members of the Sunday school have all been given their special folders for the Christmas benevolence offering, which is annually given. These are to be re- turned on Sunday evening, December 23, at the children's service. Willett, minister At 11 o'clock next Sunday morning, December 16, Dr. Willett's subject will be "On Being Religious." Sunday school at 9-45. Classes for all, and all welcome. The material used is the Revised International Graded lessons. The Young People's club meets at 6 p. m. in the Guild room. All young people of high school age are invited. The Ladies' Guild meets on Monday at 10 a. m. for work in connection with its program of benevolence. On Wednesday evening at 7:15 the Teachers' council meets in the Guild room for conference regarding the work of the Sunday school and in particular the program of entertainment and philan- thropy planned for the Christmas season. At 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening, December 18, Dr. Willett will give his last pre-holiday lecture in the series on "Great Poets of the Ages." The subject will be "Tennyson, the Poet of +he Divine Order." The lecture on Goethe, which was omitted on account of illness, will be given after the holidays. The Christmas exercises of the Sunday school will be held Saturday evening, December 22 in the guild room. Those of the Beginners' department will be held in the afternoon of the same day, at 3 o'clock. Dr. Willett's theme on Sunday, Decem- ber 23, will be, "Without Christmas, What?" Unitarian Church 1405 Chicago Avenue, Evanston Raymond B. Bragg, minister Sunday, December 16, at 11 o'clock General Theme: "Living Religiously-- Living Imaginatively." This is the regular lull before the Christmas week celebration. North Western Club Will Sing Carols at Terminal Christmas carols will be sung in the Chicago and North Western terminal by the Chicago and North Western Railway club from 2 until 6 o'clock Saturday afternoon, December 22. Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" will be sung at 3 o'clock and again at 5 o'clock. The rest of the program will consist of old English carols. The club will he assisted by its own orchestra of twenty- five pieces which has recently been organized. All members of the chorus and orchestra are employes of the North Western Railway company. Harry Slater is musical director, and Miss Harriet Pawson, accompanist. WORLD'S FAIR TRUSTEE Arthur Anderson, 930 Chestnut ave- nue, Wilmette was elected comptroller of the Chicago World's Fair Cen- tennial celebration several months ago, and at the meeting of the Board of Trustees held Friday, December 7, was also elected a trustee.
