88 WINNETKA TALK Kenilworth Board Renews Garbage Removal Contract The Village of Kenilworth has re- newed its contract with Henry Eggert for the removal of garbage, ash, and rubbish. This action was taken at the postponed meeting of the Kenilworth Village board last Monday. The terms of the contract call for the removal of garbage twice each week during the winter and three times per week in the summer, ashes twice each week in the winter and once every week during the summer, and rubbish once each week during the entire year. C. Abel, of the Abel Battery and Ignition Service of Winnetka. An interesting thing is the effect which corona has on spark plug cable, accord- ing to Mr. Abel. Corona is an electrical phenomena which is present in all high voltage circuit. The present high speed, high compression engines used 'in auto- mobiles demand much higher voltage for proper ignition than was in use years ago, with the result that a give... burden is continually being placed upon the ignition cable. The corona which develops around the cable releases free ozone from the air and free ozone is one of the greatest enemies of rubber insulation. It very shortly deteriorates the rubber to a point where it begins to lose its original efficiency. By laboratory tests it has been dis- covered that the average car on the road could be improved in operating performance characteristics from ten to sixty per cent when the old, worn-out high tension ignition cable was re- placed by Packard Lac-kard Cable. The reason for this is that vibration, water, heat, and corona, causes the plain rubber covered cable (which is generally used) to rapidly deteriorate and leak electricity, with the result that the full voltage does not reach the spark plugs. Due to a weak, as well as a delayed spark, the power of the motor is very seriously affected. The Packard Lac-kard Cable is made with high quality insulation protected by a stout braid, which in turn is coated with multiple coats of special pyroxilyn lacquer which hermetically seals the insulation from the attack of corona and also excludes grease, oil, and moisture. DON'T GREASE CAR IN STREET An important decision was made in King County Superior Court in the State of Washington recently, when the court held that the streets and alleys could not be used for greasing and servicing motor cars, according to a bulletin issued by Carl G. Pretzel, General Counsel for The Automobile Club of Illinois. --ready to care for your Auto Troubles eVEREADY PRESTONE Anti-freeze-radiator solution. Will not boil or evaporate.
