as fea tah d December 29, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 19 ARCHITECTS TO SHOW University Guild Also Working on Rogers House Collection To exhibit what is expected to prove a brilliant showing of the works of North Shore architects and to open their permanent exhibit of art trea- sures in Rogers house on the North- western university campus, are the two important January projects of the Uni- versity guild's art committee. The show of the paintings of artists of Chicago and vicinity which was cur- rent there in December, closed last Thursday. The show that will include the drawings of the architects, who in- clude many of national and inter- national prominence, will open Jan. 7 with a dinner. The North Shore Architects' associa- tion will have charge of the exhibit and of the dinner, and will have for speaker at the latter event William H. Bennett, consulting architect for the 1933 World's fair, for the Washington, D. C. city plan and other important projects. The guild will have the shov under its auspices. Feb. 1 this exhibit will be replaced by the annual showing of etchings bv nationally known etchers and the speaker at the meeting opening the show will be Mrs. Bertha Jacques. At a board meeting of the guild board, to be held Monday morning, plans will be made for the opening of the treasure room in Rogers house, which, it is hoped, Mrs. Charles H. Dennis, chairman of the guild's art committee states, will take place Jan. 7 also. Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Urion, 989 Cherry street, left Christmas night for Nashville, Tenn. They are attending a convention of Mr. Urion's fraternity and will return December 30. -- Edward Baumann, 279 Linden srteet, is home {rom Princeton university spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Baumann. Murphy, 875 Hill road, returned recently from a business trip through the east, spending sometime in Balti- more, New York, and Boston. Winnetka School System Reviewed in the Monitor Millicent J. Taylor, who was former- ly head of the English department at the North Shore Country Day school, is publishing in the Christian Science Monitor, a series of articles which are of interest to Winnetkans. The gen- eral subject is "What Is Progressive Education?" and the articles may be found on the educational page of the Monitor. The first article appeared on De- cember 11, under the subject, "A Point of View, Not a Method," and dealt in particular with the Winnetka schools. Each of the subsequent articles bring in either the Country Day school or some reference to the public school system.
