WHAT YOU CAN DO; THE RED CROSS is the greatest humanitarian organization in the world. It provides for care of the sick and wounded at the war base. It provides for the soldier's and sailors' fam- ilies. It furnishes relief in all great civilian disasters. It provides employment for returned disabled men, and, under government direction, goes where you and I cannot go in the hour of danger. Red Cross membershi p imposes no obligation of field service; nor financial support other than the payment of small annual dues. But the aggregate of these annual dues, paid by millions of grateful men, women and children all over the land, will make possible the beneficent work of relief upon which the soldier, sailor and his family depend. THIS IS NOT CHARITY. To take our place in the ranks of the Red Cross is merely to do our rightful part in alleviating the suffering of war. PRESIDENT WOODROW WILSON, President of the American Red Cross says: "It is both a patriotic and humane service that is rendered by every citizen who becomes a member of the American Red Cross. FORMER PRESIDENT TAFT SAYS: "I hereby commend the plan of our Red Cross to secure a large membership in this country. I hope the American people will be as patriotic in this respect as are the people of other nations." THEODORE ROOSEVELT SAYS: "I hope that all the patriotic and humane men, women and children of the United States, who are able to do so, will give it (the Red Cross) their support by becoming members." If you are unable to take a $2, $5 or $10 membership, you can become a member for $1 a year. Husbands and wives should have memberships. . The boy or girl who becomes a member of the Red Cross bears a part In no better way can the boys and girls help their country Children, too, should become members. in this great national enterprise. We believe that every family in our village will wish to give at least one membership toward the 1,000 new members which Winnetka has been asked to secure for the Chicago Chapter of the Red Cross. : 3 g ; 1g Sunday, May 13th will be RED CROSS SUNDAY : 3 AMERICAN df) RED CROSS LA .
