HAS HISTORICAL FEATURES Pharaoh's and Modern Society Girl Compared. Daughter Mme. Olga Petrova, the world re- nowned Russian actress, has been en- gaged by the Jesse L. Lasky com- pany in a long term contract and will make her first appearance in the Paramount Picture, "The Undy- ing Flame," a picturesque production the ancient and modern Egypt. of which scenes are laid in This photoplay is divided into two MME. PETROVA wn "THE UNDYING FLAME LASKY-PARAMOUNT distinct parts, the first of which oc- curs during the days of the Pharaohs and concerns the love affair of the daughter of one of them and a shep- herd lad. The marriage is forbidden, for it is not permitted a princess to marry beneath her rank, and the humble lover is sentenced to immediate ex- ecution. Before they separate, how- ever, they break instwe..a mystics scarab, which, according to their be- lief, symbolized their souls, and when reunited in years to come would re- unite their souls. The second part of the story brings us, centuries later, again to Egypt, where the two parts of the charm are again brought together in a most mysterious way that seems to sub- stantiate the theory of the Egyptian belief in the transmigration of souls throughout the ages. The modern lovers, however, have no realization of what is taking place, and the romance of their love affair forms almost a second story, were it not bound to the first part by a clever weaving together of circumstances, in the mystic power of the scarab. A most astonishing and mysterious' climax occurs unexpectedly, and while the last few feet of "eelluloid are flashed across the white screen one finds oneself wishing to see still more of Mme. Petrova in her marvel- ous interpretations of this dual char: acter, differing widely vet the same through the ages., This feature is billed at the Hoy- burn theater, Evanston, on June 22. EEEEE ROCKFORD IS SELECTED AS CAMP SITE FOR MEN Illinois Army Cantonment Is Given Out for Illinois. Rockford, Il1l., was selected, large- lv because it is "dry" territory, as the site for the army cantonment in Illinois, at which 40,000 men of the new army are to be trained. Spring- field and Peoria also fought for the honor. Senator James Hamilton Lewis introduced delegations from the three cities to the War Depart- ment. Selection of Rockford is said to portend a political row in Illinois, because the chief backer of Rockford was Representative John C. McKen- zie, Republican. EE Es Ee Advertised Letters.
