FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 1918 SHOW YOUR COLORS PR Begin at the beginning to make Liberty Day a sacred day, and fly a flag in your window on Saturday. Prompt your neighbor to do the same and tell him to prompt his neighbor. The home that does not show a flag on April 6, is likely to be regarded thereafter with sus- picion. GET YOUR FLAG NOW. Buy Coal Now Buy Coal now! Prepare during the summer to avoid the repetition of last winter's experience. This bit of wisdom is being pro- claimed broadcast, advice which ought to have been given and follow- ed last year, the year before that, and other years since the beginning of the fuel problem with the diffi- culties or transportation and opera- planation for the exorbitant prices 'pended, which have been demanded for coal of all grades and kinds. The wisdom of keeping the coal problem constant instead of pressed into the two or three severe months of the winter when delay asd short- suffering the have age are sure to result in sickness, is mind. Householders and apparent to simplest always recognized it, but the fluctua- tions of price have tended to keep the prudent away from heavy in- vestment at a high price when there was always hope that some govern- mental regulation would be institut- ed to prevent the exploitation of the consumer. This year the element of price uncertainty is removed and there is only the question of being able to spare the money to buy coal out of season to prevent the steady buying during the summer which is necessary to avoid the congestion such as that of the winter of recent and unlamented memory. : It is the common sense application of the lesson which we were taught with such pains during January and duction, transportation and handling by the retailer over the months of the spring, summer and fall. Don't expect your neighbor to buy his coal now and so make way for you to have prompt delivery in the winter.
